I know I'm not taking sides, but surely you must see what I'm saying too, I don't want to sound like I'm talking down to you but when you get your Mercedes if it's one from your parents if you buy it whatever and you post a pic of something you have done to your own car and others slag it off who don't have their own car, how would you feel? You kinda see what I mean?

my thoughts
a couple of years ago you could buy an e320 with the amg package, rims, suspension and you got some badges it was called the amg package. When I bought my e320 in 2003 the amg package became the "sport" package I put the amg badge on it thought it looked nice and it really did have the right...now things have changed and the only cars carrying the amg badge are the true amg vehicles.
I still don't have a problem seeing the amg badge on some cars. no big deal its when someone takes a regular e320 changes all the badges to give it the e55 look when its not. This IMO is wrong you should be glad you drive an e320 i know we all want more but pretending to have what you dont have I have never agreed with.
Enough said before I get flamed. JUST MY 2 Cents

AML is 15, he has no car, but at 15 I would have to say he is quite the mature forum member. Maybe a Vraa in training!!!
In anycase, my opinion not that it matters to anyone but me... AMG badge on non AMG vehicle... GHEY...
I work heavily on another forum(primarily AMG), part owner in fact, I will not put the decal of my forum on my e500... Why? Because its not an AMG... simple as that
who cares if its a body panel, AMG as already stated is known for its performance tuning not its body kits. Brabus, lorinser, carlsson are known for there bodystyling as well as there engine tuning... Woul you put a kleeman badge on a car with a kleeman body kit? BUT NO performance parts, prolly not.

Oh wow, 15 years old, an big enthusiast. That's good.
55fanatic - I totally agree with you that it's not right to put the AMG badge. But in the end it's up to the owner I guess... It's funny actually, sometimes I see E55's without any lettering on the back at all - guess they feel it looks cleaner that way. And to the people it matters to, they know, 4-Tail Pipes... It's an AMG.

no factory amg engine = no amg badge
a kit is a kit, i could put a body kit on an MR2 and turn it into a ferrari but that doesnt make it a ferrari, just a wanna be copy.
Enjoy the car for what it is, not what you want it to be.
I dont even know why people like badges anyway. The less badges the better.

So AsianML, if you had $70K to buy a car right now what would it be?
(I used $70K to make the E, CLS, CLK, SLK, C, R, ML and GL Classes available), I figured had I said $150K the answer would be too obvious!

But if I had to choose right now, either the E320 Bluetec, E550, an 04/05 S600/S500, or ML500. Yeah, I know that's more than one...I'd lean more toward the used S-Class though.

Really? Isn't the S-Class too big for you.
Anyway, it's interesting to see what someone younger would take -- before you start having to realize you need a 4-door and stuff. I thought you'd go for the SLK63. But I guess the S-Class is hard to resist.
cracker123 - Yeah I know. I figured this post became useless at some point back, so might as well just stop beating the dead horse and talk about something else...

Hey, MB Fanatic, which drives better your E63 or your CLS55?
I've always liked the E-Class to the CLS, but I'm seeing more CLS500/550/55/63's on the road nowadays that I'm beginning to think more people prefer it to the E-Class. I don't know, to me the E-Class has a better interior, well - you'd know best.
