the install quality looks really nice: i cant tell the exact size but the window looks like 3 sheets of 1/2" Makrolon polycarbonate with tempered glass on either side. that will give level 3 protection or up to .44 magnum and even (the low end) of the assault rifle spectrum. even the kevlar wraparounds for the door/window jambs look nice and integrate well with the interior trim.

too bad they didnt show more of the internal door protection... there is some really advanced stuff going on with the actual ballistic material being bonded to the door skins in an effort to make a stronger lighter barrier.

I Cant find the weight, but i think more than 6000lbs. The S600 weighs close to 5000lbs and theres gotta be more than a thousand pounds of armor on her.

I wonder how it drives. I know the suspension / brakes have been modified, and maybe somethin to the engine/tranny to cover that extra weight.

The reason I wonder is because yesterday, I went on a picnic in Central Park - and had in my trunk, a cooler with 50lbs of ice, 54 bottles of Smirnoff Ice, 15 2 liter bottles of sodas, and probably another 5 pounds of other stuff.

Id estimate with EVERYTHING - 100lbs worth of weight directly over my back wheels.

Honestly - i felt a difference in handling - it seemed like it required more effort in pulling away - and braking. Also - the turns were "heavy" if thats the proper way to describe it.

Thats just 100lbs........ imagine 10x that

True. Still though, I imagine the performance would be altered. So much more mass to put through the paces. Id take it though

If course you'll feel that when accelerating or breaking.
I own a small car with not so much HP and usually drive alone.
When i have one or more persons with me it handles significantly different. Have to break much harder to get to stop in the same distance. And as long i've manual transmission i have to be more sensitive with the clutch to keep the engine from stalling.
But the performance of this s class will still be great.. consider alot of cargo trucks dont have such powerfull engines like this V12
