Blind Spot Assist

Just ordered an S550 with "Blind Spot Assist". Works using the radar sensors of the Distronic system.

Does anyone have any details on how the system works?

I have a copy of the user manual but its not in there.

It's in the online manual.

That is too cool! I hope it is possible to retrofit this onto my 600. How expensive can it be to replace the side mirror assembly and flash software? Oh wait, this is Mercedes, dumb question. . .

There are other features that seem more like SW only that have appeared on later models. An example: the Pre-Safe Brake on cars with Distronic Plus. Would be interesting to know if dealers can retrofit/activate this feature too.

I have not seen a DAS setting for this one (may have missed it), might be a Disctonic Plus control unit program selection issue?
