Mercedes-Benz
still in the adaptation period, will be jerky. If it doesnt improve by 1500-2000 miles then take it to the dealer.

I just discovered tonight that the car was in C mode
not sure if this would contribute to my complaint?

I will drive it in S mode and see what happens.

Don't know where you're located but drive it in S mode until winter then switch.

You are supposed to drive in C mode during the first 1000 mile break-in period before you use S mode. (It's in the manual)

I got the kick from my E55 and my S65 when I first got them. When I first got them, it seemed weird to me that the shifting was hard like that... It stopped after about 2,000 miles

The transmission computer not only adapts to your driving style, but to the actual transmission. You have to remember you are putting computer software (which is the same everytime) to match up with a transmission (which has a huge tolerance stack up). The software has to adjust to how the actual mechanical transmission components behave based on inputs and outputs from the computer. This takes 1000-2000 miles.
