Google and Yahoo Maps Directly To Car
There was an announcement today that S Classes produced from Sept 5 07 are going to have a feature that will allow google and yahoo maps to be sent DIRECTLY to the CAR. Sounds really exciting and another groundbreaking innovation for MB.

I don't think you use yahoo maps, its just that if you find something on yahoo maps it will send the address to the car so you don't have to type it all in.

That is pretty spiffy. I wonder how it works and when the feature goes live, since according to CNET MBUSA is implementing in the S, CL, and C classes later this year.

Actually to utilize this feature you will need Tele Aid. “Pushing the i-button of the Tele Aid system downloads the destination directly to the vehicle's navigation system and prompts the driver as to whether to start route guidance immediately or save the information for later use.” http://sev.prnewswire.com/auto/20070...9082007-1.html

I do not like that approach. You seem to be a subscriber to onstar or something like that. I'd prefer to use the portable direction format (XML based), so I can load it in my PDA or phone or USB drvie from Internet (not only Google/Yahoo) and then upload in the car navigation system.
