Mercedes-Benz F 700: Mercedes-Benz shows the future of the superior touring sedan

Stuttgart, Sep 11, 2007 – With its F 700 research car, Mercedes-Benz redefines the idea of effortless, superior refinement: this concept for a future luxurious touring sedan shows how outstanding riding quality can be combined with high levels of environmental friendliness, and good performance with exceptionally low fuel consumption. Thus, the 5.17 meter long F 700 with its innovative and very spacious interior design enables an entirely new and exceedingly comfortable mode of travel. The F 700 is the world’s first car that can anticipatively recognize the condition of the road and level out the uneven spots with its active PRE-SCAN suspension, further improving suspension comfort substantially. The forward-pointing DIESOTTO drive system introduced in the F 700, a four-cylinder with a displacement of only 1.8 liters, combines the strong points of the low-emission gasoline engine with the consumption benefits of the diesel drive. Its CO2 emissions of a mere 127 grams per kilometer correspond to consumption of only 5.3 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers (44.3 mpg), extremely low for a vehicle of this class.

Where would I buy one? This should replace the ugly *** Maybach. MBZ better put this design into production in the near future.

Do I smell a W222??? Jack and I will get one

Very, very nice!!! It has the front end of some of the new Cadillacs with the tall rectangular lights and the non-rounded corners on the front end. Not sure about the rear end though. The rear end is too rounded. I wish the rear end was designed to make it look like from the outside that it indeed has trunk space. I don't know why they showed this car with velour seats. Also, I would find the square steering wheel to be strange. Don't know if this would be an advantage or not. Looks good though.
I also see we still have the buldging fenders. I guess that is OK too. I like the buldging fenders on my car as it gives me a good feeling that I am keeping up with progressive styling but deep down I'm not so sure I'm getting used to it as my own preference. I guess at 44 y.o. , I'm getting to be a fuddy duddy. When you've been a MB freak since the age of 7, you have a harder time getting used to radical changes
