NevadaJack New Beast...
I know this is off topic but I wanted to post a pic of my GL550 to let all my old W221 friends see what wheels I have now. It is not a W221 but it sure is one nice running and handling SUV.
So if you are in LV and want to do a little get away at a stop light, let me know and I will turn the Beast loose....

I used to love the G-Wagon the most - but now your images make me sway both ways!

That GL550 is definitely in that ELITE league. Escalades are great because:
1) They are the vehicles that transport the heads of state, and are used as armored backups to bring The President around town. The mystique behind it is impressive
2) Range Rovers are british Royalty
The GL550 dwarfs them!

Since I am off topic I thought I would post some other images to give you a better perspective on the GL550. Perhaps there are W221 owners who just might be motivated to add this vehicle to their stable. The engine/tranny combo is the same as in the S and just as responsive.

Hi sprink...good to hear from you. Yeah I will get out there soon and now I can get in some areas I would just not take the S. Really a great ride...sitting that high with all that power makes you feel you have control of the road.

OHHHHHHHH we just got the news that a boutique in NY wants to try me out. You know how hard it is for new designers?!?! They think we are "SLOW" - but im thrilled!!
That picture is indeed SUPER! It's 3D ! I feel like i want to reach out and touch the headlight, but dont worry - even if its a picture, i wouldnt DREAM of putting a fingerprint on those delicious Xenons....
Isnt it scary? These cars are a bigger turn on then......

Jack, I never bought into the behemoth thing. Nevertheless, your rides are always A#1 and of course best of luck with it. I must admit she is a beauty. 
One thing though, when you pull up to a stop sign or stop for a red light please have the courtesy to stay a foot or two behind the line so the guys in cars beside you can see. BTW, I was in town AUG 7 through 9 stayed at the Bellagio – "business trip", had to meet with some people over at Rao’s in Caesars.

How tall is the very front of the GL anyway? I walked past a lifted truck in Toronto last weekend and the driver couldn't see me. I ran across because I didn't want to be there when the light turned green for him.

It's about 45" high at the front of the grille. Excellent for a hit at about the middle of the rib cage. But German cars are designed to protect the pedestrians so you have no worries...:-)
