How much off a msrp on a new s550?
I wouldn't think so. Assuming your car is around $100K, the average mark up is 7% so you are talking about 8-9% off the MSRP. I doubt they would do this.
I would think maybe around $4000 would be about all they would deduct.
Just my opinion as I know very little about actual costs, kickbacks, etc. and how they all factor in. Below is an example where the difference in invoice and MSRP is only $6K : http://www.edmunds.com/new/2008/merc....html?action=2

Dpds upon specific dealer's inventory situation....inventory capital costs aren't free and credit is tightening....sales of $100K+ cars are slowing and economy is softening...
Doubt buying any car is a financially efficient approach.....may want to price total ownership/oppty cost of capital/sales tx costs of $0-down, 2-3 yr leases vs buying....and consider/price all risks of owning vs leasing (lease gap insurance, etc)....MB Credit can play w/lease MF and residuals to quietly help move inventory...most cars are leased anyway....
Thanks. Now that you stated them, I can now remember seeing a couple of those items....The blind spot feature and the chrome strip on the front spoiler. Thanks for the update.

In fact, unless one is stuck in a climate where one needs 4Matic/winter tires/wheels (my condolences), would strongly consider getting 600 over 550...
Had both S550 and CL550....though great overall cars to keep one occupied waiting for 600/63 to launch/arrive...would def say 550 is a bit underpowered for fast fwys (esp for those accustomed to AMG/600 tq); 550 brakes are notably weaker than those of 600/63....and 550 interior leather/cloth headliner dramatically make one realize that one may have overly economized on a fundamentally discretionary $100K+ car....
Anyone considering S550 should also price leases on S600....in current economic climate, diffces may not be as material as one may guess....
Also would consider quality of dealer/salesguy....aggressive price-shopping to nominally save a few dollars on mthly lease pmts may quickly turn into losses if one wastes excessive time to obtain poor post-deliv svc/have serious warranty repair issues, etc.....have always been happy to let a competent dealer earn a fair profit and have always received exemplary svc from my usual dealers....and suspect well-run dealers treat repeat customers differently vs the one-off price-shoppers when svc/warranty/lemon law issues arise....and would guess well-run, svc-oriented dealers tend to have a deep base of repeat customers, rather than surviving on price wars to sell cars to one-off customers....
My dealership keeps sending me reminders that if I send them a customer, they'll give me $200 towards service/accessories. I got one of those reminders yesterday in fact.
