one owner used, they traded for a new bentley. but my point is that the dealers r dealing more now due to the weak economy. not many people r buying these cars now, so i guess it is buyers market.

They would sell it for 78.5k
from 79.9k (sorry didnt put that .9k in before)....which is a 1500$ discount.
But from my past mercedes buying experiences.......1500$ off an asking price is simply too little!!

Look, they are offering a fair price and there is only one car that is available at it. If you like the car buy it and enjoy it. The few dollars that you may save are insignificant on an expensive car like the S particularly when you take into consideration the length of time you will own it. Remember you are not purchasing a 20000 dollar chevy but an almost 100K car. The discount afforded you should well be enough compensation for the model year. You may kick yourself it it goes to someone else and you cannot duplicate the car or the deal. The price they offered you is well below the original dealer cost.

Yea but hearing someone else got a deal for 76k makes me not want to pay 79k. The 3k difference is money regardless if it is affordable. I could use that money to buy some rims or something...you know what I mean? as a buyer, my goal is to negotiate the lowest price possible...

Sosh,
Theres no need to bust my ***** when i ask about a "fair" S-class demo price..
Do you have a crystal ball that says "Derrick will not get the car"?
I recall lots of members on this forum put aftermarket rims on their cars, but I dont recall them messing their cars up if installed correctly. Maybe you should start by looking at the photos stickies in each of the Mercedes vehicle classes and you will see a lot of aftermarket rims.
I admit I dont want it badly enough to pay full asking price, a car is not a neccesity. But it doesnt mean I wont buy it at any price, if I feel the price is right I will buy it.
Who are you to judge what level car I should buy? Just because you think 3 grand is insignificant for an S-class, doesnt mean 3 grand isnt money. I've seen posters like you bragging about "why any Mercedes drivers desire discounts, and that they should pay up since they should really be rich enough. They are not buying chevys and blah blah". Its your choice and opinion how to spend money but the last time I checked, money doesn't grow on trees.

Does it have ABC, (Active Body Control), and the AMG body kit? I picked up a W221 Executive Demo on Nov 30 2007 (11:00 PM at night) with 6000 Miles, . The Major options I'm *missing* are Distronic Plus, Rear seat package (i.e Heat/AC, 8 way adjustable). I Paid $81,xxx (before taxes, DMV fees).
What I recommend is going to http://www.edmunds.com and pricing it out with the options you want. It will give you a rough invoice price which you can then use as a baseline to negotiate.
I wasn't really looking to buy an S550 at the time, so I drove a hard bargain. They had advertised it as 86,000, and I told the sales guy (over the phone that I wasn't looking to pay more than 80K.
I also told them I would finance the car through the dealership, which is what they like to hear as they see financing charges, but before the first payment, I moved it over to my own financing deal denying them of the financial charges...
