S550 Seat "Clicks"

Our '07 S550's driver seat has a weird problem. When driving but mainly while turning, the driver's seat makes a lot of clicks...but also while sitting in the vehicle (on or off) if you move side to side it will make a click noise. Hasnt been brought in to the dealer yet to see what you guys think it could be. Could it be possible something inside is lose? The car only has about 8,000 miles and the passenger seat doesnt do this. Help??

Check that the seatbelt is not lodged too low in the seat. The plastic bit on the side of the body of the belt sometimes knocks against the side of either the seat track or the center console.

If that doesn't work - I imagine you have a screw loose in the track itself which needs tightening. That was the case on my W220 S500 back in 2005.

Your vehicle may be included in service campaign 2007080001 https://mbworld.org/forums/showpost....0&postcount=48 or 2007080004 https://mbworld.org/forums/showpost....2&postcount=49

Yep. That was my first thought. Mine did it for a week (3 months or so ago) and then never did it again. It was the inflation of the dynamic seats that caused the noise and I figured mine did it due to the colder temps that set in at that time. The leather got stiffer and the air cushions had to inflate up against that tighter, stiffened leather.

Umm...no. Its definitely not the seatbelt. It seems like its something inside the seat. I guess we'll have to get it checked out. Since im friends with one of the managers at my dealership, I wanted to see if he could lower the suspension through the STAR Diagnostics. Maybe if I go for that I can have them check that out as well.

Konigstiger and Trumpet:

I checked those links and its none of the stuff that was listed there. Also its the standard seats. Its not the multi-contour ones sadly.

I dont think it has anything to do with temperature. When its hot or cold or anything, it does it. I'm thinking its something mechanical.

Do you have the ventilated seats? If so, do you think one of the blowers in the seat might be hitting the shroud encasing the fan? (if there is one).

Yes it does have ventilated seats. That could be a possibility as it does sound like its coming from inside the seat rather than around that area and it doesnt sound far down, so I dont think it could have to do with the tracking.
