funky 600 shift when driving off
Has anyone experience a bit of a jolt or rough shift when starting out from a cold start? It has been happening frequently and seems to be from 1st to 2nd gear. When I asked the service guy about this he said the 600 starts in 2nd gear and shifts into 3rd and that this is "normal".

Just after purchasing my car, my car did exactly as you described. I noticed a jolt just after startup and leaving the house or leaving my office. I took it to my MB dealer and they flashed the tranny module software and it completely eliminated the problem.
Then a few weeks later, I had Renntech upgrade my engine and tranny modules and the problem reappeared.
I tried to live with it but I finally called Renntech and they told me to switch from the "C" mode to the "S" mode. After doing this, the problem completely went away. It's been months since then and the problem seems to be quarantined by switching transmission shifting modes.If I were you, I would either take the car to the dealer and insist on getting this software flash done, OR try this home remedy and switch modes (S to C, or C to S) and see if the problem goes away.
I love leaving mine in the S mode.

Not sure what the jolt is. I havn't experienced. I do know that if set in C mode it will automatically start off in 2nd gear. I always use S mode. Starts in 1st. All that torque in first gear can be quite exciting. As in any gear really.

Before you go to the dealer try this reset. Turn ignition on but don't start the engine, depress the gas pedal for about 10-12 seconds, turn ignition off and wait a few minutes before driving. This will resets it. I had a similar problem only mine was when braking and down shifting from 2 to 1. After this the tranny seemed to work well again. Your tranny will start adapting to your driving style again.
