Drive Dynamic Multi Contour Seats '08 S550

I have a 2008 S550 with the massage seats. I set the seat for their air settings and start the massage feature. All is well on massage until suddenly all air chambers deflate and the seats go flat. I can not reset the feature at all as the setting revert to zero immediately. I let the car sit overnight and when I get in the car in the morning the massage works again with the original settings. The same thing happens time and time again. No one has heard of this or has a fix. Particularly aggravating is when the air chambers deflate so do the lumbar settings. The problem is on both the driver and the passenger's seats.

I spoke to MBUSA and the dealer and all they say is they have never heard of this before. I pulled the fuse and put the same fuse back in and the seats worked. I am not going to do that every day. The problem started the first day I bought the car a month ago.

Help.

Not sure I fully understand your issue...

I typically have my seats programmed w/maximal bolsters throughout....and part of my start-up routine is to press the memory button (re-inflates bolsters after car has been parked; I'm only driver of my car, so seat positions almost never vary)....and I'm an addict for massage functions, so repeatedly activate massage feature while driving....

Haven't had issues w/the several '07-'08 S/CLs I've had....I believe the trick is that one needs to press memory button upon start-up to re-establish bolsters (have no idea why, but figured it out on own within first few days of getting first S550 back in early '06).....

Hope that helps...

No issues here either - it certainly sounds appropriate for dealer attention though. The quiet hissing sound of the seat bolsters inflating and deflating is part of the audible internal soundtrack of the car.

Are you saying this happens only at some point after activating the massage feature?
Does this happen even when the massage function is not activated?

Mine works just as WSH describes - no problems for a year now.

I had a similar problem on a W220. When it would stop working the pilot light for the massage function would blink. It turned out to be a bad check valve in one of the air lines. The system was shutting down because the pump was overworking. Even though it had this safety system, by the time they found the problem the pump needed replacement too.

Service campaign 2007080004 may apply whereby the dealer will update the control module software. https://mbworld.org/forums/showpost....2&postcount=49

Two and a half year-old thread, but still timely to me. My Dynamic Contour Seats option only works for a few minutes after the faults are removed by my indie. Within a few minutes, they no longer work. Remove faults, they are fine for a time. Dealer says replace all, to the tune of mega bucks. 2007 Designo w/ 60000 miles, no warr., obviously.

Is a leaking bladder the only culprit? Replace all? Opinions invited.

Thanks.
