Didn't want to post anything but as a Desi I too take offense to the previous statements. WTF does race/religion/culture have anything to do with a gas station?

 

I was about to post the same, I hope all accept the agreement equally as those directly involved did.

On the technical side, I thought the road side assistance people had detected water in the engine bay fuel filter/water separator but it looks like this only exists on diesel engines (one of the few things I can brag over the V12 guys ). So it remains a mystery to me where did they figure out the water in the engine bay and how much exactly was "tons of water"? Perhaps they just looked at the cooling water reservoir.

 

Except for major snafu, intentional or otherwise, water is not found commonly in gas. On the other hand, there is normally so much water in diesel that fungus in the fuel system is a common problem. You might want to save that brag for fuel costs. Oh wait, is diesel up to $6.00/gallon yet?

Actually, I'm a big fan of the latest diesel engines. I can't wait for the V8s to be sold in the US. And the 300,000 miles I put on my '83 300SD with nothing but the rear window regulator crapping out repeatedly was something to brag about for sure.

 

I'll give another try: diesel at my place is a good deal cheaper than gas.

 

I think that the V8 diesels' time is numbered. MB and Audi are reportedly working on their own competitors to BMW's 3liter twin turbo I6 (282bhp,428lb/ft) which returns more than 30mpg. As with the VW group 5liter v10 TDI, offering nearer to 20 than 30mpg defeats the object of diesel power, unless one is merely concerned with towing.

Now the current 320CDI unit is somewhat underpowered for a big car like the V/W221, but a 3literTT from Merc delivering c.300bhp makes more sense than the V8 diesel which offers no more power but markedly less miles between fills.

 

Well, the cars getting picked up today for $2100.
Dealer said it was mostly water in the tank.

 

So any ideas how the water got in there? From the gas station? Someone lever open the filler flap and siphon the gas out? Someone have access to your car?
