XM and Sirius finally merged
I saw on the news this morning where XM and Sirius finally merged. That's good news as I'm hoping for a larger selection of songs and better categories of music.

Not optimistic selection of music will be much better...
Gotta think iPod has really made sat radio music fairly irrelevant....suspect sat radio is really for truckers to listen to talk radio....
Besides, I'm too cheap to ever pay for sat radio....prefer exhaust note music....

Satellite Radio is dead.. hence the Merger, hence why Sirius is an under $5 stock -- for a long long time...
In case you haven't realised you can stream many of the Sirius content to a computer. Huh? What that means is that With software/hardware (think iPhone 3G) you can get the best media content you desire.

In case you haven't realised you can stream many of the Sirius content to a computer. Huh? What that means is that With software/hardware (think iPhone 3G) you can get the best media content you desire.

Not clear what is future of sat radio on new cars....
Haven't followed it closely, but I vaguely recall reading that a rather low percentage (?30%ish) of new car owners ever bothers paying for sat radio beyond the free trial period....
I certainly wouldn't pay for sat radio...and the guys I know who like music are iPod junkies anyway....and cust svc for any monopoly/oligopoly provider like cell/sat radio/sat TV/Microsoft/car dealers tends to suck, so one is incented to minimize/simplify exposure to these clowns....

Interesting facts you bring to the table here. I do know that good old FM radio will probably never go away. My suburb town I live in is loaded with trees and I basically can't use my sat radio going to and from work. Chops out really often.

I've never owned XM. I have sirius. As a Benz owner, do we have a choice? I assumed we had to get Sirius. Mine works just fine as soon as I get out of the jungle of trees I live near. I live in an old town known for autumn foliage shows. It is now a major suburb of Birmingham.

My sense is the poor recep issue (for both sat radio and cell phs) is largely due to the mtns throughout the SF and LA regions; NYC corridor is relatively flat (though heavy tree cover, e.g., along Merritt, can cause issues).....and Chic/Dall/Hou are super-flat (and largely treeless in many urban/suburban areas)....
