WTB an S600, need some advice!
Hey guys, Im looking at picking up a s600 as a daily driver, was curious to hear from other owners what I should watch out for when buying used. I am looking for something low miles, all black. Any idea what I should expect to pay? I noticed a few other threads on here about wholesale prices, just curious what the real market value of an 07 is.
Also, anyone have experience with the Renntech chip?
Thanks!

I would say you would have to pay about $1K more for every one thousand miles less than what my car has on it. For example, a car just like mine with 15K miles on it might get $95K retail. With only 10K miles....$100K retail.
Just my feeling on it. My car is super, super , extra super clean and was updated to the 2008 software and also has the Video in Motion module in place so I would demand at least $90K for mine if someone walked up and wanted to buy it.
I seem to get about 15000 miles on a set of rear tires and 20000 miles on front tires. They are staggered on S600s.

Agree w/trumpet....anecdotal feedback from various owners of '07-'08 600s is that reliability is superb....
May want to figure out which dealers in your region are likely to start seeing the 2-yr-leased '07 600/65s being returned to dealer....
Would suspect better dealers w/deep repeat cust bases will more often see carefully-maintained '07 600/65 w/<15K mis being returned for new, '09 iterations....

I firmly beleive this is the best sedan available in the market. The only other choice would be the 65. I've have had no issues. Trumpets pricing estimates a right on at about $85k. Mileage could effect. Find the right car. Some dealers are pricing way above what they will accept. Maybe $15kish above???
If you find a blk/blk low mile at dealer I would start at $75.

I admire the boldness of buying a nearly $100K used car from an honest used car dealer (is that an oxymoron???
) in a distant region....w/no chance to physically examine/drive before entering transaction...perhaps the risks are already priced in...perhaps not....

wsh,
this is the exact same thing i told my dealer contact down there. I just cant seem to accept buying a car without a physical check up of it. He did, however, invite me down to inspect myself, or have MBUSA inspect it on my behalf.
pretty odd story behind it as well, apparently it was stolen from the MB MIAMI, and was recovered 7 months later, with nothing wrong with the vehicle.
The vehicle is covered by the remained of the MB Warranty, and the vehicle, as far as i can see, is in good condition.
Im going to continue to talk to this guy and may take a trip down there, and or have MBUSA inspect on my behalf. If god willing, this car will be in my driveway.

As you are already contemplating spending $80K+ would you not obtain more peace of mind with a vehicle with a more reputable history... even if it is a few thousand more?

That sets off alarm bells for me... though the vehicle might appear in good condition, who knows how it was driven, stored, or otherwise treated during those 7 months... Cosmetically it might look fine... but underneath the surface...? It is unlikely that the thief had any owners pride in the vehicle... For that amount of money I would not want anything less than absolute certainty about the vehicles history... and a cast iron guarantee from MB to cover you if anything untoward should turn up...

Life's too short to deal w/"stories" in any signif business tscn...
Suspect any competent dealer (and would rather buy from a well-reputed MB dealer) in a more "reputable" urban region (don't know many less legit places than FL/LV/LA/SD

Good luck....more importantly, would perform careful due diligence before signing to anything....

OK so Its a theft recovery. That changes everything from my previous opinion of $85k being fair. That knocks at least $10,000 or more off value.
This will be reported on CARFAX and AUTOCHECK. $85k is too much. Also when it comes time to trade or sell in a few years this will be a huge issue for dealers and endbuyers and likely will cost you additional $10k depreciation on sell side. The car might be perfect but that blemish on the record will scare buyers. If you find the car is perfect through independent inspection $75k is top I would pay. Take your time. It should be easy to find blk/blk low mi no story for 85.

Keep in mind if this dealer bought this at an auction the theft recovery has to be disclosed. I'm sure the dealer got it for $65 to $70k.

exactly. Used will always be used, whether or not it was CPO, its still used. This kind of deal, compares to hitting on 17.

thanks for this post. Im going to the email the dealer and discuss this with him. 75 k for a 600 in perfect condition(?) and only 13k miles is a pretty solid deal.
PS: what do all you guys do for a living? just curious as to the standard of people driving these vehicles.

Also not sure if you saw previous posts but dealer offered $75k for my car blk/blk AMG body 22k miles perfect no story. So theft recevery should be about 10 off of that (wholesale).
