The way S600s have dropped, you'd be better off getting a used S600. I've been watching those cars drop like a rock. My car is only worth half what it was new and it only has 26K miles on it. I would spend an extra $15-20K and get a killer deal on an S600 with around 20K miles or so on it.
The S600 is always the best used car deal out there since it takes the biggest % hit. Just my opinion.

pics shows the car is immaculate and excellent condition but that car
is one of the VERY early built W221.
The door jam sticker indicates it is DEC 2005 build.
You might use it as leverage to negotiate.
Other forum member who have access to Manheim Auction maybe able to shed some light of the average auction price for 07 s550

I can say that there were a few quirky things that I find undesirable about the early builds. Mine was built just after those quirks were eliminated.
A couple of things that I don't like is the extra fin that you see on the trunk lid (boot lid). This was done away with a year into production. Secondly, there was a change in the headrests. I can't remember exactly what the change was but it was an improvement.
I'm sure other things were slightly tweaked but nothing that would say not to buy the car.

I've been seeing that car for a long time and personally I think they are having a hard time selling it because of the color. I hate that color on that particular car. It might look on some other MB, but not on an S.

That barolo red S is very nice IMO, although I am surprised as to how cheap MB has become with their premium models. My 126 trunk is upholstered to match the interior, I cannot believe the W221 eschewed that.

Adjusted for inflation and interest rates/lease terms, today's new, '09 S65 only costs about what a new, '92 S500 costed

Today's new, '09 S65 is a hell of a better value than S500 of early '90s (and has a few more hp/lb-ft and decent leather finishings)

Need to factor in that a new, '09 S550 costs <$100K....IIRC, a new ?'92 S500 costed about $93K....

The point is that the 600 and 65 models are "supposedly" premium models, while this stinks of mass-production generics.

On another note, the new window switches are very nice but I was told can not be retrofitted because size of units are different.

I looked at the '09 S63 today and toying around got a trade in quote on my '08 S550 AMG Sports Package, P3 pkg, wood/wheel that I purchased 13 months ago and has 13M miles. They offered me $72M for it
. Perfect condition. I decided I will keep it!

Barolo red is my favorite color and S is really gorgeous in this color. It is quite impossible to buy any Benz in this car unless you order. So I guess this car is a special order. If the car was local for me, then I would take it.

Come to think of it, the very first W221 I ever saw was this color . I saw it at the factory museum floor in Stuttgart. It was a short wheel base car. Under the lights it did look good.

a question you guys, if that car with 15k miles on it is around $65k...
when do you think ill find the same deal, with 15k, but down around $55k? anyone think that that might be possible in the next 6 months or so? taking into consideration the US economy, and the latest
in wallstreet....
