this is actually my first time buying Mercedes...first my stolen C300, now this S550.

IMO, one of most important options on 550 (that few have) is ABC....transforms car's chassis precision/stability
Many on this Board have moved from 550 to 63 or 600 or 65....it's all relative; no one "needs" any of these cars; they are each marvelous masterpieces of engineering that one can enjoy for both daily transportation and entertainment...drive them each to judge for self
One warning: it's often painful to ever go back to underpowered, less luxurious cars after accustomed to MB V12s....recently drove a colleague's CL63 030 briefly and was astonished by how underpowered it felt (despite its loud exhaust note), even in routine fwy driving....until last Fall, I drove a CL63 030 for >16K mis, but clearly have become addicted to 65's tq and now refuse to ever own anything but an AMG V12

But there's certainly nothing wrong with a S550 either - especially not when it comes with all options.


I have been looking at an S550 as well. Currently have an E320 CDI and love it.
