I will make a guess - $45K-$50K for a 4Matic, and $40-$45K for a RWD. Both with 20-40K miles and in average condition. I wonder how far off I am...

What do you guys think for a 600 (I know the OP asked for 550)? Maybe $70K? Maybe now is the time for me to get my V12 before they are all gone for good!

Thanks a lot HHS. Now that we are depressed could you also please show the 07 600?
I figured the pace of depreciation would slow. But doesn't seem to be the case based on Mar 2010 prediction.
Thanks

Like everyone else I suppose, I keep wondering how much lower they'll go before leveling off. I'm watching a beautiful silver/black with sport package and pretty much everything else and have see the asking price drop from the upper 60's to mid 50's so far. Just don't want to buy one only to have it drop another 10K in the next 6 months....

I can tell you I had the same thoughts. Dec/Jan was the bottom and they are edging up, at least auction prices. If you want one I think it behooves you to pull the trigger now. Good luck. BTW, if you are in SoCal and need help fining one, let me know. I am not a dealer, Im just a car guy. Good luck!!

I think the real clean low mileage S550's will level off or bounce back very soon.

Buying a 07 S550 with under 20K miles and with warranty coverage for mid 50's is a steal, especially if it is a one owner car. I am not talking about a rental or lease program vehicle. That's 40-50 percent off in 2 years guys. This is a great car for the money. Maybe, i'll buy another one next month.

Still looking, but not really sure what I want to do. I am leaning towards staying with my stock AMG's and just buying new Michelin Pilot Sport A/S.

I have seven cars and I will not put more then 3K-5k miles on the S550 this year. I like to drive my muscle cars during the summer months, so the benz will most likely sit in the garage.

I can understand that, my wife tend to drive the car a lot more than our 07 750Li. She said that she likes the S550 a lot better, but it normally just sits in the garage.

Not everyone can buy at the auction. Even your list shows that the low mileage cars are much higher. I would think that you have to add 10-15 percent on these prices for most who do not have direct access to these auctions.

I'm going to wait as well until they settle comfortably in the $30's for non-Auction prices. I'm giving it until late '09/early '10 when the face-lift comes out, prices will really start falling then. At that point I'll think more seriously in whether I like the W221 enough to buy one. Either way, it will still only be a 2-3 year old car which stickererd at like $90 new, selling in the $30's.... A lot of car for the money.

I was at the Riverside Auction last July, and I CAN'T BELIEVE how low the W220 2003+ AMG's are going for now, they were a good $10+K more just that 8 months ago.

You will be waiting at least a few years or more. The only way you will find a W221 in your price range is if it has high miles. Just my opinion. Again, great cars for the price.

If you're referring to the $30K thing for '07's, I'd say a few years will have them muuuuch lower than that

Already you can find super clean examples with under 50K miles in the mid $40's as the listed price, and this isn't Auction prices. I'd say $30's won't take much longer.

Here are a couple quick examples:
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false
And:
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false

Again, $45K is an insane bargain for these cars which are barely 2 model years old now, and if I was absolutely in love with the car I'd be happily signing the papers on one for that price.... But I personally would sleep a bit better knowing I paid in the $30's.... Then again, it'll take a lot longer for CPO cars to hit that price obviously.

EDIT:: I just realized you said "unless it has high miles" which you're mostly correct on, but I'd still say under 50K isn't super super high or anything.

As I said, somewhat high mileage and most likely no warranty. I would only buy a S550 if it was a one owner car with under 20K miles and still under factory warranty-those cost in the $50's. Never buy a used lease/rental car... Also would not touch an East coast car because those roads are killers on any car. LOL.
