Kleemann Tuning on a 550...

Lately I've been feeling like my S550 has been lacking in power (especially compared to competitors like the 750, etc). I've been looking around and some offerings from Kleemann have caught my eye. I'm interested in the K1 package for the 550 engine.

500/550-K1: A Kompressor system and a custom made ECU upgrade. Up to 475 HP and 625 Nm (463 lb-ft) of torque.
My questions are: does anyone have any idea how much something like this would cost? How is Kleemann and the M273 engine regarding tuning and reliability? Would this much of a power increase from the current 382HP/391TQ really call for an increase in braking power over the stock (or as WSH would put it, girly) brakes? Overall, is this recommended?

Thanks in advance.

5 minutes of googling found a Kleeman M273 kompressor kit for $15,000, installation not included.

just trade your 550 for a 600 or an AMG.

you won't have to worry about overpowering the chassis or brakes

Great advice. The $15K would be better spent safely by going that route or getting an S63.

Well now that I know that, I definitely agree with you both. It wouldn't really be worth it. Thanks!

Unless you live in my part of the world where an S350 is $210,000 and the S500 (or S550) is $286,000. $15k is a small price to pay to get that much gain.

Really? heh I had an S550 that was getting all over my *** yesterday. I never even think to race one since I don't consider it a sports car, but the guy was being a jerk about it and went around me and cut me off to get one car length ahead of me. So I went for it hit the gas and I was surprised I didn't gain very fast on him. I did pass him up, but I thought that tank had no chance lol. I am sure an ecu upgrade might help you a little why don't you contact them and renntech and see what they can do with just a software upgrade.

I live in Indonesia and they don't exist here. No S500, S600, S63, S65, nada, zip. It's a simple reason. The government charges progressive car tax based on the size of the engine. 1.5L and below we only pay 5% tax, 2.0L to 2.5L we pay something like 15%, 2.5L to 3.0L we pay 30%, 3.0L and above we pay something ridiculous like 75% unless it's jeep or minivan. Soooooo....that's how we came to paying over $200k for a measly S350.....

By the way, a Rolls Phantom is like $2,000,000. Yikes.
