Warranty questions cpo vs private owner
I'm not sure if (tell me if I'm wrong please) I can buy a s550 2007 privately and then goto Benz and purchase a warranty/extended warranty. The lady trying to sell my car said they won't give me a warranty if I buy it privately. Is she saying that so tha I can get a cpo s550 from her or is that true?
I just don't want to buy a s550 privately (it costs less then a cpo from Benz) and purchase the warranty seperately or just purchase a cpo s550 from Benz with the warranty
And buy the extended warranty. It's likely to pay off in spades over time.

You can certify any car, that meets MB standards. The standards are less than 50K miles and still on factory warranty and internal MB info about this car, which you can find out at MB dealer. You can find the car from owner, take VIN# or bring the car, give it to MB extended warranty salesman and they will tell you yes or no. And, BTW, you can buy not 1 year, but 3 years warranty. Just go to Sovereign MB in Brooklyn to service department and they will give you the best answer how to do it. I think the girl name is Tanya, who takes care of it in Brooklyn.

You may buy a car form anywhere and get extended MB warranty for this car, as long as this car meets MB standards. Be careful with that and before you buying from owner or betting on auction - call to your man in MB service, give them VIN# make sure this car is eligible for extended MB warranty. You may contact any service adviser at Sovereign MB and they will help you with that .
I had the same question as you and asked the service guy at Sovereign when I did sched maintenance for my car...
Good luck with your purchase.....it's hard to find loaded S...
I wanted to buy used S too, but decided to lease E ...my broker says prices going down and I spoke with my neighbor who has used S - he says it's too big for everyday city car and he says even don't think to buy it without warranty....too much money for repairs.
I wouldn't settle for just anything, if you search the MB website for CPO cars in your area you will be surprised. There are a lot of low mileage cars out there loaded for around the price you looked at. I remember when I bought mine, it was CPO with 20k miles for 59k and the only option I don't have is night vision. So search around and don't just settle, because you want a S550. You might be able to find 07 S600 for a little bit more.

O and everyone does anyone know why they classify the s400 as a hybrid if it just adds ONLY 4 miles to the mpg :/
Hey Bro,
It was a really good deal, the car has everything except the night vision and its not a 4 Matic and as far as the illuminated door sills, that's a 2 or 3 hundred dollar option. Here's a link to my photo gallery and a few more pictures;
