Has anyone gotten the ECU reset trick to work?
As the title asks, has anyone ever gotten the ECU reset trick to work on their W221? I can't get it to work on this car or the ML (haven't even bothered on the other two yet) and I'm pretty sure I'm doing it correctly. I've tried many times over and over on separate occasions. I know what the difference is like as well as the dealer has done it before on the ML and it was night and day. If anyone has successfully gotten it to work on their W221, please post up saying how you were able to. My car's been babied almost all of it's life and I'd like to reset that. ![drive](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/driving.gif)
If you don't know what the ECU reset trick is, you can read about it here.

It would be interesting to try this once the snow goes away, I know there's a similar reset procedure for the 7 Series, but you had to hold the gas pedal in for 20 sec. This reset the transmission.

worked on my 220 and 210.
make sure the doors are closed. I also turn off the climate control and comand.
engage the clickdown if the 221 has it for about 20 seconds, and then wait 2 minutes.

tried on my S550 several times. just a gimmick. u feel like there is slight diff, but goes away soon. if u r still under warranty the dealer will install new updates for free. that helped big time. the lag was almost gone. just my 2 cents.

That's what I told them for my ML (it really wasn't shifting properly). They did the above things you mentioned and the difference was amazing. It felt like a whole different car. Essentially, it resets the tranny adaptations, which is what the ECU reset is supposedly supposed to do, but I think it only works on the older model Benz's.
