That is going to be tough to get at that price. You will have to sacrifice somewhere- either in options, mileage, price or questionable lineage...
What happened to the one you got in 11-09? Or are you looking for a second one?
Im getting my money back from the dealer I bought it from. He didn't send me the plates yet!! so something must be wrong either with the title of the car or... I have no ideea! He said the title got lost, then his son didnt send the papers to the DMV... bla bla bla. what do you think hapened? it's been 5 months allready

ebay's probably a good place to start to gauge the temperature of the market...also stop by a few dealers and look up Mannheim prices for the type of car that you want.
No doubt you can get this kind of car from Manheim. Here is the latest auction PRICES in PA on March 18. Good luck.

I was wondering if I went to an auction, could I finance it? Or do I pay full price?
Quote:
You must pay full price at an auction and later may finance it. Or You can apply for financing like from Capital One, where they give you blank check for any approved amount and pay by this check.Originally Posted by Wantmy1stbenz

Capitol one said they won't give me a blank check To goto an auction unless the dealer has the car is purchased by a dealer. So what I have to do is get a dealer to get the car for me and then get the blank check from Capitol one and then give it to the dealer that purchased the car for me.Originally Posted by aeggroup

Yes...that's right, but why do you have to say to Capital One that you go to auction ? Just apply for blank check with no VIN # upfront. I think there is an option like this..not sure...Originally Posted by Wantmy1stbenz

Ok they said they only will finance as much as 30k for a used car and 40k for a new car. I didn't want to put more then 10k down for the car smh. But I'm not sure how much a 2007 sport silver or white s550 is gonna cost at the auction. Do ya think it will be more then 42-45k? The car with a pano and 43k miles at a dealer costs 51k in flushing queens. So at an auction I think it should be atleast 5-10k cheaper. What do you guys think?Originally Posted by aeggroup

I've got the access to Manheim website and may browse all post sale results, but unfortunately it's impossible to say what options has the car from their result list. I'm sure any dealer that actually goes to auction will tell you the average price.
Good luck.

I check craigslist and yahoo auto mostly for the cars. The one mb dealership we have in Brooklyn sucks and are a bunch of thieves and I will NOT ever give them my business (unless they give me a great price on my baby)

1. Totally agree with you about Sovereign MB dealership. I got my last car from there and it was the most unpleasant experience in my life of buying cars. I'll try to stay away from there forever, unless they will offer something very extraordinary. Originally Posted by Wantmy1stbenz

2. This link you provided - this is the example of GYPSY dealership which I don't trust, but I may be wrong. First, try to run Carfax report for this car and look what will be there. There is a reason why those guys don't put free carfax on ads.
3. Try to find a dealer to go to Manheim and look for yourself. I think it worth it. You can buy a nice car from MB Financial - meaning this is the lease return or factory car. Just make sure it goes on green light and still has factory warranty. PM me and I even can connect you with guys who go to Manheim. They charge from $200 to $400 for the trip, but only if you buy a car. You must pay the auction fee - which is about another $450 ( if you bought a car only of course).
Good luck.

I too am looking for one. Not many people complain about the model. But what they do say is to make sure to get a warranty because parts are very expensive. I'm looking for a white or silver, pano, sport s550 also. It's like looking at an angel from the sky ... *wipes the tears from my eyes Sorry guys I get emotional when I start talking about it.
So most people will tell you to get a cpo so that you have a peace of mind. Or if you have enough cash you can get it from an auction and buy a warranty, but make sure it covers everything.

One question for you: Want are you going to do about your forum name when you finally do by a Benz?

MBWorld Fanatic!
The lease returns that end up at these auctions - why aren't the dealers picking up these cars and CPO'ing them? What's different about the lease return cars going to auction, as opposed to the lease returns that end up being sold as CPO car at the MB dealers?

. I think I will change it to gotmy1stbenz lolQuote:
Looks like you think it's very easy to sell $50K used car today ? If 2 guys from this forum can't find the car they're looking for - it does not mean dealers have no problem to sell it. I visit my local MB dealer in Brooklyn and see the same used CPO S-Class ( at least 5 of them ) 2 months already and nobody's rushing to buy them. So, they will wait some time and those cars may end up in Manheim like others.Originally Posted by nyca
The lease returns that end up at these auctions - why aren't the dealers picking up these cars and CPO'ing them? What's different about the lease return cars going to auction, as opposed to the lease returns that end up being sold as CPO car at the MB dealers?

They do get the cars there. But keep in mind, auction prices cannot begin to tell you the condition of a car. Does the car need its bumpers painted, does it need tires, does it have a cracked windshield, seat damage, poor prior body repair, carfax problems?Originally Posted by nyca

When a dealer buys a car from auction they typically invest $2-4k getting it ready to be a CPO, don't forget they need to buy the extended warranty (albeit at a discounted rate). Typically a dealer will need to paint at least one bumper, put on new tires, buy the CPO and maybe fix some damaged/missing trim. In my case they painted the front bumper, put on new tires, wet sanded the car, replaced all sill plates and several broken trim pieces, put in new floor mats fr/r and updated the telematics/nav disc. (I am probably forgetting a few things) They then need to carry the finace cost of the vehicle and still leave room for profit.
The raw numbers at auction can be very misleading....
