Someone in Germany already did. I bought the kit. That was the whole point of this whole thread. To see if what I bought is really "plug & play".

If it is, then everyone can save some trouble and just buy from this guy in Germany.

I will be the guinea pig so to speak and try it out first for the community.

I've spent massive time keeping my car as perfect as I can, while thinking I have no idea when I might all of a sudden want to switch it for something else, some of us consider that "care" process as part of the enthusiasts experience, at least I do.

It is important to get your money's worth, but I agree, having a car who's design you can admire, and just enjoy "looking at" is doing just that, IMO.
Why do people waste money on cars (especially MBs that depreciate like rocks) that they don't drive.

It just depends on the persons situation. Plus, not everyone drives all so much a year, or if they do, the type of mileage they put on is better suited for a car they don't have an interest in (appearance wise), as it'll get beat down quickly, yet they still want to own a nice car to stroke their enthusiasts side.

Cars are always a bad investment, and yes of course, getting your moneys worth is by getting actual use of the car, and enjoying the benefits you payed for.

I always cringe when I think of how I've put less than 10K miles on my car in 2 years, and how well I've maintained it, etc., and how now if I want to sell it, I'll lose tons of $$$$. However, you gotta do what you gotta do, and I wanted to have a nice car I can enjoy, yet not beat up in the grueling work mileage I tend to drive.

Ennnniiiweeeii, let's get back on track. The car is at the Brabus dealership now. It's been there for 4 days. All the Brabus mechanics said that the wiring kit will make the conversion job a lot easier as they don't need to figure out the pins (The German tuner did all the hard work already) and what goes where.

Incidentally, there was another car there that did the front headlights conversion but without the precoded modules and without the wiring kit. It's blowing all sorts of lights error now; everything from lights out error, parking brake on error even though the parking brake wasn't pressed and night view error (thank god my car doesn't have nightview, apparently that's another giant headache altogether).

I should get my car out this weekend and I will do a complete writeup on how everything works (if they should 100%). I was so happy with the way the kit turns out, I bought the 2010 sidemirrors and the electronic trunk closer from mbenznl (steve).

Darn europeans, they are so good at everything....

So I got some time off today and I stole away to the garage and to see what has been done. The lights are on it, everything works, except for a little error: "active steering lights inactive" that shows up on my speedometer. Basically, the lens won't turn left nor right when I turn the steering wheel. Called up the mechanic from Germany and he was speaking to the Brabus mechanic over the phone and they told me that they gotta work some magic with the Star Diagnostics. They will have more news tomorrow for me.

Anyway, to tide me over, here're some lousy bb phone pics:

With the city lights only outside:

All lights on inside:

I will, I was just in a hurry. Everything plugs right. It's just the minor star diagnostic issue that needs to be ironed out.

Proper photos will come soon enough.

Just pick the ones that promise you "NO ERROR". Mine's actually some JDM stuff that I bought locally. Works very well so far.

Emilner and tdwayne I have to agree. Why buy a car like a w221 and never drive it. I don't think we are counting anyones money, but just saying to enjoy your car. One day you will die and then your car will be able to sit there for as long as you want, till then enjoy.

I think whoever buys a car (or anything else for this matter) is in the best position to know how to enjoy it. To each their own.

I have a extra set if you want them, they do not throw any error message.

Exactly correct!

I know people who spent thousands/millions collecting (buying) ridiculous (to me) things like $25,000 Hermes Birkin bag or $200,000 24 karat diamond encrusted gold-plated blackberry phones only for the sake of buying it. Why? Because they can. I am in no position to judge what other people do with their money.

I just like the S-class as it is. It looks fantastic even if it's just sitting parked in my garage.

Sorry, it looks like crap because it was taken in the dark. But there's the white LEDs on the license plate...

Hey I see it's a lil dull on top, but if you left it like that I don't think it would be that big of a deal. Does it light up all the way when you break?

It's light angle. Actually the light is quite uniform...
