A member on this forum pointed me to a vendor in Germany whom I shall not name here, but you are all welcomed to PM me for the source. Don't forget to let the guy know that you heard it from me. Anyway, this vendor claims to sell a "plug-n-play" kit for the headlights conversion which include a set of 2010 headlights, a set of wiring harness and 7 (yep, you read it right: SEVEN) new precoded light modules. So, all one basically needs to do is get to a merc mechanic/shop and replace everything and you should be good to go.

Since my kit was shipped from Germany only 2 days ago, and I am stuck in China on business at the moment, I probably won't be able to take a look at it for another week or so at least. But rest assured, I will post lots of pics of the install.

In the meantime, please enjoy these photos taken by the seller before the package left Germany 2 days ago:

Left headlight

Right headlight

The all elusive "plug-n-play" wiring harness and install instructions...

4 of the 7 new modules!

Let's cross our fingers and see how painless this conversion is going to be. The taillights conversion had been a nightmare....(let's just say I had 2010 module, but the mechanic still insists to hardwire the taillights but he got them to work in the end so.....)

Hey - any updates? Sounds like this kit is still in the experimental stages? Not error free?

I got mine working. I got the harness from Master Tuning. I have to thank Ahmedito. With his help and my mechanic they are now working. Now I am working on the tail lights. Seems like the 2010 SAM is not taking to my car. Two trips to the MB dealer to reflash SAM has not worked. So I will have the mechanic try the cross wire method.

Does anyone know whats involved with switching out the front bumper of a s550 for the new style one with DRL's ?

Obviously the bumper part is easy, but what of switching from fog lights to DRL's

Do you have to change a SAM or something? Anyone done it?

Im more interested in doing this than the headlight conversion itself.

There is definately reprogramming involved if you want all the features of the DRL to work. On my 07, the computer control for the DRL goes to the headlight in the wiring harness, dont think you can have the old headlights and new LED DRL's. When you activate DRL in the computer it will activate the DRL feature of the headlights.

My solution was not to try and carbon copy the '10 but I had LED bars (DRL's) put into the lower grill of the bumber and they are wired to be ON with the pkg lights and turn OFF with the headlights coming on.

My philosophy is a little different-- I like the FEATURES of the '10 but dont believe in "building one up" from the '07. Not worth the expence for me... This is just my feeling-- for me. I have the functionality of LED DRL's and LED tails (ebay), all hooked in for less then $800, all in. I did spend some money getting the IWC clock, but thats 'cause im a watch nut! Got the aftermarket lighted sills for less then $300 (for all 4 total!), and the numberpad cover (burlwood pattern) for $99...

I like to say, I have an '07 with some '10 styling mods... And its not a copy of anything, its sort of a one of a kind!!

Any pics of how the front of yours looks with DRL on and off?

I don't get it. What are you trying to show us? Your headlights conversation? If so mind to show us some ILS functions like cornering lights, enhanced fog lamps mode etc. It is not so difficult to convert headlights on a pre-facelifted W221, I did it more than a year ago. To make intelligent lights system fully working this is a most difficult part.

Hey AutoToys123,

Did you use the wiring harness and all seven modules to make the headlights work??? And if so, where could I get these other than MasterTuning. Thanks for all your help.

Im in the same boat. I have to get this stuff to work in India which is probably even harder, considering no real aftermarket guys workon MBs here, or atleast not that I know off.

So is MasterTunning the place to buy the entire kit or can I just buy the harness to make it easier.

I dont care for the DRL as long as when I turn the lights on, all the lights come on, including the LED strip in the bumper.

Can also someone tell me if I need to change my catback if I go with the AMG rear bumper, or just the tips need to be put on and it works?

Mine is a 2007 S350, the exhaust doesnt show at all.

In response to neue2010 video link post and C-Dizzy's question:

Also if you did get it to work with out dash warning lights coming on, did you get the "intelligent light" (i.e. turn headlights with the direction that the wheel turns and headlight adjustment with fog lights engaged) to work smoothly? There is no interior proof of complete integration and compliance with the new hardware.....

The last link posted shows only LEDs lit up, signals working and HIDs on for only a short moment....Are there any long term downfalls or errors found?

Have filed a case on ebay against seller, goods not fit for purpose. I agree with you totally, small box with wires cant more than £10. Will keep you posted. Mean time steer well clear unless you know it works. Did pm greekviking on here who claims to have made it work but heard nothing
