07 S550, Passat 2000

New S550, how much discount !!!

Hi,

I went to a dealership and looked at 2010 S550 P2 and Sport package, price was $101,800. I am planing to pay with cash, then how much of a discount can I reasonably ask for?

Completely agree. Actually as someone who worked in the Car business while going through College I have found and recommend that you negotiate like hell on the price while suggesting that you want financing. If they think you are a finance buyer and completely focused on the price and you "Seem" finance illiterate then they just might pack the deal on the back-end (meaning in the finance contract) to get you to a low purchase price.

I wouldn't tell them that you will pay cash.......and this is VERY important....until you get into the Finance office to sign the paperwork. Something like "I've been thinking and my accountant tells me I should just pay cash".....so how much should I make the check out for!!!

It is against the law in every state I know of to offer a different price for any vehicle if you are financing vs. paying cash. There may be a lot of "Noise" when you make the declaration in the F&I office but they can't do anything about it and if they try tell them that you will be contacting the Automotive regulatory agency that oversees/licenses dealers in that state.

If a dealer is shooting straight it's no issue for them, if they are trying to make some $$ on the back-end and/or being less than forthright then you will know and have the upper hand.
