Locked phone--S550V4

I am a real forum newbi. Just enrolled. Looks great; glad I did.

Just got a Launch Edition 4-Matic off lease turn-in through a non M-B dealer. It's 39 months since activation, but has 55,*** miles, so no warranty. Clean history etc. So far so good. I still have my S430 and '76 450sl.

Couple of glitches. Phone is permanently "off". I used manual and toggled untill carpal tunnel set in and it stays off (locked?). Bluetooth won't find my bluetooth mobile. Must I go to the dealer (40 miles) or what's to do?

Also, some options don't work. Came with Driving Dynamic Seats and other options. Any application of the seat/air settings are ignored and default to zero (all seat adjustments on the door buttons work well). I'm fairly famliar with navigating the Command, though "War & Peace" has fewer pages than the manual. It was about the 117,175th off the line, if last digits of VIN mean that. Another pain is the rear headrests won't drop back.

Lotsa questions. Think a computer code check might clear some of these up? Any and all help truly appreciated. Love the car. Thanks in advance to all.

What year is your vehicle? Models prior to 2010 require an optional plug in phone cradle to be installed in the console glove box. This is a do it yourself installation. See http://www.wireless4mb.com . Use this sight to identify the correct part number. You can get the part from them, from a dealer, or might find a used one available on Ebay.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Really appreciated by this rookie.

I have the puck. When I do the search for Bluetooth, the puck flashes back and forth during the search, but nothing happens. The result still says "phonen off". The Command does show it recognizes my Motorola mobile. The result still is "phone off".

I am still struggling, but thanks for caring. Anyone else? Thanks.

Sorry. Forgot. It's a 2007 "Launch". Bassically, P2, I think. Thanks.

Got a pm about the phone. Went to site. Had to try three times, but got it paired, phone book dumped down and it works like a champ.

I'm happy as a clam. Thanks, to all who cared.

Still fighting the non-working Dynamic Seats, non-laying down rear headrests and non-functioning sliding seat/steering wheel up when exiting issues.

All ideas/thoughts appreciated.

The newbie thanks you.

Is the serial number 117175? I cannot pull a datacard for that car and have to ask then if the car is equipped with option code 223 rear seats (I'm not familiar with the US package codes)? Rear headrests do not raise unless the car has 223 rear seats. But your issue seems to be that the headrest do not even fold down, perhaps you've lost air pressure from pump at the trunk. This same pump also takes care of the multicountour seats while drive dynamic seats have an additional pump. I do not remember if the drive dynamic pump takes over the trunk pump task for the rest of the seat air bolsters. The valve units sometimes fail on drive dynamic seats, there was a SW update too but you should really have the car diagnosed with SDS to properly identify the fault. I guess you have checked all fuses that are related to seats?

Considering convenience exit feature, have you checked the settings? I think the seat and the steering wheel can be independently set off.

Dynamic seats and other points

Thanks for replying; very good info. VIN I put in was wrong. It's 117123. I was working from memory.

I don't have the contoured rear seats package. Rear headrests are simple manual pullup and switch release fall back. They won't release/fall back.

The Dynamic seats issue--I will have the software checked/updated by dealer. Never thought of fuses. I know where the buss is, so will look at that.

I'm 6'3" and 280 That's why I hope to get the "exit" feature working. Will mention the pump thought to mechanic.

This is a giving group. Glad I came across the forum.

Just curious on the easy exit feature- Did you check the settings to make sure it is turned on? I keep mine turned off via the command menu.

On the seat bladders returning to zero- I have that also after a few hours, it is usually from a leak in the bladders/lines...

Thanks for the advice. I have worked thru the Command and "clicked" it on. It won't hold. The steering wheel moves up/away, but seat is static. Per manual, I checked and it's not too far back and not hitting anything, whick would stop the movement.

Not end of the world, but would be nice if feature worked. Dynmaic seats option also doesn't work. Fuses chkd. and are o.k. I will have codes run and pump in trunk, per earlier post, chkd.

As a newbie, I appreciate folks caring and helpping.

On the exit feature, I am not quite as tall as you, but keep the seat fairly far back...past a certain point, only the wheel moves upon exit...try moving the seat forward a bit and then exiting....if its like mine, the seat will move to roughly where you leave it to drive anyway....features seems designed not to go all the way back.

"easy exit"

Great thought; makes sense. I'll try it soon. Will let you know. Thanks for caring.
