Is that for real? I'm positive my W220 had double paned glass. My '09 Malibu actually has double paned glass as well.

Let me elaborate, as there could be some confusion.

To me, dual pane means 2 pieces of glass with an air gap in between ala 140. The 220 has two pieces of glass laminated together, which I guess could be considered dual pane in a sort of *******ized way. Your malibu may have the same.

All W221 cars have double pane glass. They are thinner individual panes of glass than the 140 which was nothing more than two panes of regular thickness glass glued together. I would not call the new windows crappy as they are really quiet...

thats lovely, but when you laminate them together, you lose the positive aspects of the true dual panes, such as the lack of fogging, and the additional sound reduction.

Obviously, the benefit of going to the dual laminated glass is the reduction in cost and weight.

Can I see the photo of the double pane glass? Mine looks like a single pane glass.

[QUOTE=amaycg;4239181]I am considering a 2010 Mercedes S class to replace mine, however none of my dealers have any cars with the options I have on my car (listed below), so I think I will keep my S class for a while longer.

Just in curiosity, would you upgrade your 2008 S class that was basically loaded for a new S

Let me know if you are selling that car it is how I would have ordered it
Do you have pictures

Check out the COMAND system voice control and navigation.
I think the 2010 detects words, rather than letters.

I preferred the 2010 E Class COMAND and the 2012 C Class COMAND vs my 2008 S class. Both newer versions felt faster to enter and process destinations, and had a faster screen update when traveling.
Sorry no quantifications there, just seat-of-the-pants feel.

I got this from Wolgang's site:

New Telematics Generation NTG 3.5 debuts
For model year 2010 the New Telematics Generation NTG 3.5 COMAND will replace earlier NTG 3 in the S-Class and CL, with integrated Bluetooth and Sirius instead of RDS based real time traffic in North America.
2009

Maybe you can search for more details.
Let us know what you find.

Edit: [Just saw this post which has a summary of changes to COMAND.]
