as far as ive seen its not a bandage. mb originally would have you replace the sway bar but i think the final fix is to "glue" it so there is no movement. i can defiantly see your concern with this as far as short term but so far it seems to be working. you are right some designs act like a hinge when the sway bar moves. in this application it is not the case mb doesnt want any movement there. if you applied some sort of grease and sanded and cleaned the surfaces it would probably work too. i would recommend the proven method though. the bonding adhesive that is recommended is some pretty nasty stuff probably holds the space shuttle together haha

Mercedes S Class S320 CDI (W221)
My S Class (W221, S320CDI, 2006) does also have this suspension noise problem, but worst on cold startups, and always on road bumps. Very irritating when driving a car like this. I get noise both from front and rear suspension. My MB-dealer is not capable of locating the couse of the problem.
From having read this tread, can I conclude with replacing the front suspension sway bar is the fix? What about the rear axle? Is there a similar sway bar to replace?

I'm getting a rattle at low speeds going over the smallest imperfections in the road. I'm thinking its from something to do with the suspension (possibly torsion bar from what i've been reading). Don't really hear it over bigger bumps or at higher speeds. Is this what your problems were like??
