I ended up going to my indie and he told em the sound now is coming from the right lower control arms and both left and right torque arms. At a tune of $1390 for parts and labor.

Does this sound about right as far as cost?

The S sounds like a horse and carriage right about now. Ha. Thanks in advance.

im not exactly sure what all cost are per each part plus labor. but my car sounded the same way. the noise got worse and worse. ended up being most my ball joints were torn bushings were all messed up front and rear. its going to cost 6000 to warranty company and i have to pay out of pocket a lil under 1000. so for 1390 that doesnt sound to bad. but im sure you can find it cheaper somewhere else or if you buy and aftermarket parts you will save alot.

Easiest thing is to get the sway bar assembly replaced. From what I could tell, the bushings come fixed to the sway bar now in the dealer stock so the techs don't have to mess with the adhesive. It'll cost about $400 parts and labor.

Quote: Can't people read. The link is mentioned at least 10 times in this post, Konigstiger, you have the patience of Job.
NO. UNFORTUNATELY, PEOPLE DON'T READ. THEY DON'T EVEN DO SEARCH.

I think there were already three guys asking the same thing about buying KEYLESS GO buttons this year.

Fixed it!
My new to me 2007 S550 with 220K was doing the same problem. The previous owner had replaced the entire front suspension including the sway bar and could not figure out where the noise was coming from so I bought the car for incredibly cheap. I use a five dollar pack of Loctite adhesive epoxy and let it sit overnight. I followed the same directions as the Mercedes bulletin sanding all the surfaces, cleaning with rubbing alcohol and glued overnight. I generously applied the entire tube of adhesive and wiped away the excess with paper towels. The car now drives PERFECT. I could see on the frame of the car where the swaybar metal mount had rubbed on the metal. This was probably causing some play and the banging noise in swaybar. The only question I wonder is the sway bar would probably be very hard to remove if you had to later change it again, so I would probably only do the glue method to a newer sway bar that has new mounts.

Do any of you guys get uneven tyre wear? Also, when driving, if you jerk the steering wheel left and right violently, do you get the noise or is only when going over speed bumps?
My car has developed this noise and is getting worse. It only does it when going over speed bumps, or when i raise/lower the car on the jack, so basically only on longer suspension travel. But then, i raised the car, took wheel off, proped a stand under the lower wishbone and lowered the car, it did not make the noise. So it only seems to upset it when load going through the wheel.
Anyhow, i cannot not believe that the fix that MB has come up with, for one of their flagship models, for a suspension component that is subjected to vibration and torque, is to glue it!!

I have a popping sound coming out of my right rear suspension. When i go over speed bumps, the rear of the car wobbles and makes a popping sound, is this the same issue for you guys?

I am having the same issue and am going to replace the Sway bar. This is for a rear wheel drive W221. The WIS says that you need to disable the Airmatic suspension via STAR/Xentry before disassembling the sway bar. Is this needed? All else seems straightforward in the directions. I planned on unbolting the linkage on each side then the mounting brackets for the sway bar and replacing.

Forget all those extra steps. Just unbolt the sway bar from the frame and the sway bar end links.

i think WIS is making it more complicated than it has to be by disabling the airmatic.

And if for some very strange reason Airmatic needs disabled, just disconnect the battery...

Disabled air matic reduces risk of inadvertently raising lowering that could harm tech under car.
