Opinion On The S550 4-Matic

Hi, my father is about to purchase an S550 4-matic CPO 2009 and I just wanted to get your opinion on what you believe is the best about having your car and if you are constantly at the dealership. or has most of your stuff been covered by warranty!

2008 S550 2014 GL550 2018 F-350
We bought a new 2008 S550 4Matic in November 2007 after first driving a Lexus LS460, and are very happy with our decision. We have not had any problems and are very impressed with the quality and performance. We live in the Pacific Northwest and have to deal with rain and occasional snow...the Mercedes gives us confidence in these conditions. The Lexus LS460L was nice and alot cheaper, but at the time we bought, did not have AWD. I believe that you can't go wrong with Toyota products (I have had many in the past), but if cost is not much of an object and you want to enjoy the driving experience, the Mercedes is a better choice. I have noticed when I wash the S550 and my Porsche 997S, that water does not get into any of the door jambs, suggesting that they are sealed very well. I have not noticed that with any of the other cars I have owned in the past (save for other German built cars).

Good luck with your decision.

Thank you that was helpful because that is what he is trying to decide between, something he can retire in and be comfortable in as well. i'm not money is the hugest issue but I don't think he wants to be spending his money so much on a car, in basic terms what I'm trying to get is the warranty he gonna get will cover tell 2016 and I'm wondering if he should worry about having to do these services A and B in order to recieve and warrantied items!

You're welcome! I don't think he would be sorry with either the LS460 or the S550...both great cars!

Great car. I bought a 2008 s5504 CPO a year ago. Its made very well and very quiet. The ride is ultra smooth, especially with the 18 inch wheels. Keep in mind it is a big vehicle, very long. You will notice this most when trying to park in tight spaces such as supermarket parking lots. On the highway it does not feel as big but its not a sports car. You feel the size if the road has curves. It is very good in the snow, better than my wife's ML.

Yeah he's not a city driver so thats not a big problem, I would be the one using it in the city (if he lets me). yours being a CPO whats the deal with having to do the A and B service in order to have the warranty cover everything. or have you not had any problems.

I got the car with 13 k miles and they supposedly did the service when it was certified but now I am at 25k miles and the indicator is on for the B service. I am actually trading it in for the new BMW 550ix M sport package. Love the car but want something sportier...

AWD. For nearly 25 years I have driven Benz. Audi 10 yrs. prior to that. Live in Wisconsin (um, occasional snow flurry...j). All MB's were pushers. Got 4Matic seven months ago. Always put four snows on the others. Stayed with Conti All-Seasons on this. Darn decent in the snow. Great grab, due to wt. and traction. Live urban, so cannot speak to mountains, plains etc. Happy with AWD.

I am a 2007 S550 4 matic AMG with Michelin Sports a/s tires. We just got pounded with 2 feet of snow, the car like a tank, took it on no problem.

Looks very clean, their photo set of the car is very complete. Do you get a CARFAX report on it as part of the deal?

Hey guys today while testing this vehicle the sales person said that he wouldn't have to change the oil for 10,000 miles is this true or is the sales person tripping!

Yes,most MB vehicles don't required oil changes till 10k miles/1yr which ever comes first? That's what I like about our cars.

'10 S550 4Matic, '06 BMW M5
Living where there is a lot of snow and ice, I never leave home without 4Matic in inclement conditions. Mine also has snow tires, so it is extra-competent. I highly recommend 4Matic, and the S-Class in general is superb. Mine is like a mobile relaxation chamber.
Mine is a 2010, so I've had no technical issues. I'm about 500 miles away from my first "A" Level Service.
