THinking of making an offer on this one

Time to move up from the E, it's so damn hard to find a white on cashmere s550 but there's this one that's local to us.

I have no idea the value of these cars, the prices are listed all over the place. How much do u think I can bump off this price?

Also, does all the s550 have airmatic? That was my biggest regrets not having on my E, they're asking just a few bucks from $50k for it. .

Wow $50K-something seems high for an 07. I would think anything over mid 40s is too high.

Also check the tires and make sure you know what you are getting yourself into if the car has low profile tires. I'd avoid them like the plague.

The car is all stock, U think something like $45k out the door and stay firm is good or keep on shopping? My wife is firm on white/cashmere, with the sport package. without 110k to put on a new one, it'll be real hard to get exactly what we want.

That what I mean, book says that car should be around 54k as it's a CPO.

I've been digging around and everyone is asking in the 50's for ANY 07/08 S550 that has below 40k miles. We test drove an 08 today with 41k miles with the designo package (which we hated btw) and they were asking 55k

When I last looked to buy a W221 it was last October and something tells me that prices have gome UP since then for whatever reason... Back then I could have bough a low mileage 2007 W211 for around the mid 40s.

BTW I would not hesitate to expand the search radius. I ended up going about 200 miles to pick up the car I wanted but it had the options and the color combination I wanted.

Look at the certified cars I found with an ASKING price of under $50K. I bet you have a couple or a few thousand dollars worth of negotiating room for some of these cars...

I would offer $45K + tax and tags and if you feel you can get it, also ask them to extend the warranty to 7 years included in the $45K. Offer. Especially if you can get the warranty extension, I think $45K is a good price.

i'm pretty sure 45K + tax and reg. is a hit for sure. It's basically telling them I want their car for their asking price OTD. :P

I was skimming around the forum and noticed the tranny issue on these cars. I'm a little nervous now, I also test drove an 08 LS 460l with only 13k miles for the same price im about to offer for this S. I just think the front of the LS is ugly and boring and it doesn't drive like the S. But man, 6k for a tranny repair some of these guys are shelling out is just scarey for a car of this class.

The car is being offered by fletcher jones which I think is 1 year or 100k miles which is nothing. Beshoff is 3 years or 130k miles which is pretty nice.

The options are not too attractive, and I'm not sure the color combination is that rare (after all, what other interior color goes with white). The prices indeed seem to have gone up, but Fletcher typically has very reasonable deals.

So that's a pretty stripped down model?

It's fine, just nothing spectacular in my opinion. I would personally not get a W221 without at least Distronic, ABC, and Rear Seat Package, but would always skip the "Sport" package, so to each their own ;-)

How much are those options worth? I'm driving in a few hours. Our main concern was the color and the amg bumpers. We have no kids so the back seats options aren't important. I actually don't like the reclining back seats cause the center becomes more uncomfortable with it.

If you commute a lot, Distronic would come in very useful. ABC takes handling to a whole new level, but you probably need to try it to truly appreciate the difference. The middle seat is same as with no Rear Seat Package unless you actually recline the seats, but I agree that this one is more of a luxury than necessity.

Your car is the same spec as my 07, but no iPod. It had less than 15,000 miles for just over 50 at the end of the year at an indie. The sport package is an expensive item for just appearances and they charge for it. It still rides great with the 19” AMG wheel and tire combo. I never use cruise control so distronic didn’t mean that much to me, but it is useful.

Just got back from driving the car, everything seems ok except I'm feeling a vibration, almost like a bad balance but I'm not sure about it. They said they're gonna have it checked out, I'm coming back to drive it again tomorrow after they do a balance.

It has the Sports + 1 package so stock 20" AMG rims, chromed. It seems like we're paying the extra for mostly appearance upgrades. It has the parking sensor but no backup camera. How hard is it to add this afterward?

Additionally, carfax is clean. It's a lease return but original 4 year warranty is expired. So basically, it only have the 5 year or 100k miles on it when we buy it. Oddly, he stated that this does have bluetooth but I would still need an adapter. Is that the puck he's talking about? Why would I need a puck if it has built in bluetooth?

This is where I'm not really comfortable with it. If the car drives ok tomorrow and everything check out, I think I'm gonna offer $45k Plus tax reg if they throw in the additional 3 year 130k miles CPO warranty and also throw in the whatever bluetooth adapter he's referring to.

One more thing about this car, they've had it on the lot for over 30 days the original asking price was $60k, they dropped it to 53k then now 49999. It makes me wonder how much more room do I really have to work.

Also, why would it sit for so long with no taker? According to the sales person after 45 days it doesn't sell they ship it to another location.

Sport+1 was not introduced until MY2010; looking at the sticker above, this is an aftermarket upgrade. I would personally stay away from 20" rims in Bay Area, considering the road condition.

I actually don't mind the 20 rims.. I plan on putting 22"s on them once I get it anyways. It's gonna be a weekend car, not a daily driver so it's ok. How do I tell if it's an aftermarket rims and not factory 20"s AMG?

Aside from the sticker above that says that it shipped with 19" rims, 20" rims were not a factory option (nor an approved accessory) on MY2007 S Class.

I walked out on this deal, they were very nice in working with us by putting stock 19"s on when I discovered one of the rims were bent.

When we were ready to work on a number, he said this is a special price, we can't go any lower because their original asking price is $60k. I basically found an excuse and left. It'll end up paying close to $55k for a car that's out of warranty except for the 1 year 100k CPO warranty and is barely have any additional option.

unless you have family that works there, do not worry about the dealer's financial position. Focus on your cash for what you are getting.

I think your offer of around $45K is what it should have been so if you passed on this one, don't worry, there'll be others and in the meantime they will drop in value so sooner or later you will get it for what you want to pay. I highly recomend that you work the extra 7 year warranty into the deal and also get them to throw in the BT adapter. I managed to get both during my negotiations.

Thanks, I'm just itching to have an S550 on my drive way. I got a call from their "customer relation" more like a closer IMO and tried to find out why I walked on them. I told her I'm not gonna even try to waste my time negotiating when a sales person told me the price I see is the price I'm paying.

We talked for a little bit and it lead to how much would I pay? So i told her $48k OTA with the bluetooth and the 3 year additional warranty to 130k miles. She's gonna go work with the sales manager. Again she said they won't move on the price but will throw in some perks. Even at 49.9k + tax and reg I think i'm gonna pass cause I can probably get an 08 with more options for the same price if not just a couple grand more which I can justify.

I have my 07 for sale and its equipped almost the same way as this one. No keyless go or power trunk, but everything else is the same including the color combo. Its on ebay now item #230629904905. I have a buy it now of 47K with 38K miles and a couple weeks of CPO left. Clean autocheck/carfax. Car is really nice. I hate to get rid of it, I just can't justify keeping it. We have 3 other cars and live in a condo where we only get three spaces. If you're interested, PM me. I'm located in south florida, which is where the car has spent its whole life. Thanks

thanks for the offer, but @ $47k by the time I get it here to CA I'll be paying just as much as I would on the local one with more option. You'll be able to get more for it locally.
