Nice. What hardware will be required for that fix?
I still am baffled by even the presence of the date field, let alone why anyone would care what date the car thinks it is... but hey, if it's fixed, it's fixed.

The GPS code is updated from 4.22 which was compiled in 2005 to 4.23, which was compiled this year. The media is an ISO that has the certificate signature to allow the COMAND to accept it as authentic, and can be invoked without Xentry. I am doing this in an effort to help the W221 owners community and not for profit or sale. I will write provide instructions as well as a source for the file to update your COMAND.
This has nothing to do with Daimler AG, MBUSA, or Harmon Becker and they are NOT liable if you damage your COMAND and is done at your own risk. It has no warranty either expressed or implied.

The Date is important to calculate the service days for ASSYST and how long the vehicle has been in registration.

Possibly so. Mine seems to have no trouble keeping track of days since service or other time periods, but I'll take your word for it. Regardless... if you've come up with a fix for that nagging GPS software bug, you're a hero. Well done.

Yes - it is nice to finally have it functioning as intended. I would recommend running an MD5 against whatever file you have you insure you have a non-corrupt download, as if it was corrupt, it could damage your device.
Do you have the MD5 value?

Here is a link to the update and instructions for use in a .ZIP file to update your COMAND NTG 3.0 to fix the ongoing date/time issue and setting of the analog clock.
This is my contribution to the W221 community and is the work of several people to get the NTG 3.0 clock and date bug fixed again.
Good luck!

If you decide to install this fix, I would be interested in hearing the outcome. I am hoping for 100%!

Thank you for pointing that out. I used LZMA compression scheme, which I also just tested using the default OS X deflating software, and it wasn't a fan of that compression scheme either. I think that since there may be many users utilizing their default decompression software built into their OS, I will recompress it using a more universal algorithm using the same name.

It's not too bad - I can do it easily on one attempt with my thumb, index finger, ring finger, and pinky now. LOL
I re-upped the file using a more compatible compression algorithm for others that may encounter the issue you did. Please try again if you don't mind with the Windows 10 extractor.
The default OS X unarchive utility works.

Success!
Follow the instructions, view the youtube. Now you have an operable clock.
Thank you thank you.
Only took me two tries to get the engineering menu (yes, rotating the knob a nudge did me in the first time.)
And it was a stressful minute when updating, but once done the unit boots up basically instantly and it's like "Hey, I can set the clock again." Little things in life.
Again thank you.

Maybe it would help other owners if you also commented on the video for those that stumble upon it a different way?
