20" staggered wheels on 4Matic

I keep hearing this is not recommended - but no clear reason. So my question is specifically to folks that took the plunge and installed staggered 20 inch wheels on their 4Matic s550.

How long have you driven since and have you noticed any problems due to this?

There are multiple threads about this already. The reason why they do not recommend it is that it may throw off the 4matic drive system because the differences in the sizing of the tire.

People do it either way, like myself. I use it as a summer car so it's never in the snow. I had it for a year and had no issues..others in this forum also have 4matics run staggered even in 22's with no issue.

Thanks jadeethan.

I am also planning to get the Bridgestone Potenza Summer tires and live in a place where snow is rare (max. once a year).

I have ordered these wheels from eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/350509533532...84.m1439.l2649

Go with the 22's and fill those wheel wells up nicely. I think 20's look way to small on the S550.

Installed!!

Just an update that I installed the 20 inch AMG style wheels with Bridgestone Potenza Pole staggered tires - total cost $ 2400.00

But the car looks amazing and drive is pure thrill - worth every cent.

Sure. I'll post them over this weekend -- as soon as I get my bumpers painted.
