Question for your guys with dropped cars on 22's

This question is specific to the w221 of course.

If you have 22's and dropped your car, does your rear wheel turn in at an angle?

Do you have premature tire wear?

How do you guys address this? I heard alignment can't fix it and there are no camber adjustment can be done to the car.

I have 20's and going with 22's but I think that dropped 20's appear to leave the wheel pitched in more.

Lastly how are Nexen N7000 tires?

Let me know your feedback. thanks guys.

As long as you don't drop your car really low. You should not get really bad negative camber. I would just lower it just enough to get rid of the fender wheel gap for a daily driver car. As for the tires, its not the best out there but reasonably?

i don't know if the toe is adjustable on the w221 (most cars have that adjustment), but that's the key to inside wear. camber is just one factor for inside uneven wear, however a good shop will adjust the toe settings accordingly to compensate that

Phat your car is slammed. Do you have uneven tire wear and negative camber?

Also I am wondering a 20" vs 22" is the diamater of the tire/wheel the same or the 22" is slightly larger thus you don't have to lower your car as much?

Thanks for the response guys.

Also I am selling my 20's on another thread

Yes. My inner tire has a slight wear since its so low. But I don't drive the car on an everyday basis. When you're buying tires make sure you check the tires wear ratings. That will help.

possible. factory size is 255/45/18 i believe. that means to stay factory diameter in 22s, it will be 255/25/22. but most people do 245/30/22 or 255/30/22 (front) and 285/25/22 rear, both of which are larger than factory diameter.

and also, jadeethan, since you have 4matic (iirc) and you probably want to run staggered 22s, make sure you get the tire sizes right front and rear this time

Thanks Romini,...i know you're very versed at the tire sizing based on the other thread about TPMS.

Are you running 22's? Should I run 285's or 295's. Phat runs 295's but just wanted your technical opinion.

Thanks.

well i was tempted to modify my s550 but decided against it (another story), but i have had plenty of previous cars with aftermarket wheels.

285/25 or 295/25 honestly don't matter much to me. i think it has more to do with how aggressive you are going with the wheels. if they are aggressive, 295 will be "fatter" and "larger" thus you have more chances of rubbing. however if the wheels aren't that aggressive, either one is fine.

also keep in mind, with 22s since the overall diameter is larger than stock, and with reasonable lowering, you probably should expect some rubbing. from what i rear the front you might rub on the tab, and for the rear, just look out for where the rear bumper meets the quarter panel.

and in terms of tire combo, personally i prefer 245/30/22 and 285/25/22, or 255/30/22 and 295/25/22. that will minimize problems on your 4matic. wheel widths wise, ideally for those tires, i would hope for 22x9.5 and 22x10.5.

fwiw, on my old ls460l, i had 22x9.5 and 22x10.5 with 255/30/22 and 295/25/22.
