75,000 Miles 07 S550 CPO for $30k? Should I buy it?
Hi all,
I found a CPO 07 S550 from a local dealership. It is loaded with options like distronic and nightview assist. However, the mileage is around 75,000 miles.
Here are my questions:
1. Is it a good deal?
2. Should I do a PPI on this car? It is Mercedes Certified from a Mercedes Dealer.
3. Is the mileage a concern? I plan to use this as a daily beater and drive less than 10 miles a day.
I'm seriously considering pulling the trigger on this car.

I have 74000 on my 2007 Designo Launch edition....premium pkgs. etc. It's not AMG. It's in Wisconsin.
For what it's worth, Kelley and Edmund's show a wholesale on mine of 31k. I wouldn't sell mine for that.
With CPO, 30,000 seems decent. I cannot speak to prior damage and other intangibles, but if it's a straight car, has what you want, it could be worth it.
Extended Benz warr. would give piece of mind. Lotsa expensive stuff can go south.
Good luck.

Get it but do a PPI and especially check for accident damage at a body shop. Also set aside $3-5K for repairs after the warranty runs out and pray something more es pensive does not give out on you...

Check the details of the "CPO". I have 07 with 80k miles, agree with above, not a big issue there, but as I understand the MB CPO warranty is limited to 5 years from first in service date....if its an 07, the CPO warranty might only be a couple months left?

If its out of warranty, a minimum term of 12 months is put on the car, also to the OP, you can buy up to another 24 months of CPO extension from the dealer, this is coverage that MUST be purchased at time of contract (not like the new car Extended Warranties) and it is highly recommended on something like an S class.

The only real difference between the s550 with the AMG sport package and without is appearance. The AMG sport package includes 19" AMG wheels, round fog lights in the front with a different lower grill, the rear is different ( you can see the exhaust with the AMG package, it is hidden otherwise ), and the AMG package has side skirts under the doors.
( designo is simply custom interior choices with higher grade materials / more available colors )
I am not aware of any mechanical differences between the two.
Hope that helps...

Grill
so taking that one step furthur, if i purchase a S550 with no AMG package, and wanted to add the grill? is that possible? and if so , what's your guess on how much that would cost?

You can add the AMG body kit via custom work, but unless you find an insane deal on a regular S550 you are better off waiting for one with the AMG kit. They are not that hard to find.

Keep in mind that the CPO warranty can be taken out to 135k miles. Perhaps the dealer will work with you on that. 75k miles is not realy that high by todays standards. With it being CPO, that eliminates the risk of any truly major failure that may occur.

Very nice! I love the interior. I pulled the data card and it appears to have all options for a 4matic. It has keyless go, pano roof, night vision, rear camera, dynamic seats, distronic and rear seat package. One with all of those options, the sports package, and in the color you want can be hard to find.
FYI, you'd get better responses if you started your own thread.

if i could figure out how to start my own thread it would probably help- lol .. This car looks fantastic to me, it's not being sold through a MB Dealership and it's out of New Hampshire, they can sell me a warranty but that will be atleast 3-4k- My other concern is the car fax on this car. Seems odd to me, it really doesnt show any service work at all at the local MB Dealership ..

I wouldn't worry about it not being sold through a Mercedes dealership as long as you can have a pre-purchase inspection performed before you buy. The PPI should preferably be done by a Mercedes dealer.
IMO definitely get a warranty but shop around and research for the best deal. If you perform a search of this forum, there are a number of threads with recommendations.
Carfax is not a dependable source for maintenance records. If the shop doing the work does not have a relationship with Carfax, the work will not be reported. For Carfax, I would only depend on that to tell you if it was in an accident, sold at an auction, or how many owners. Even then Carfax is not 100% accurate. I would get the maintenance records from the seller if available. Also, you could call your local Mercedes dealer and ask to speak to an SA who could tell you what work has been done with the VIN. Legally they can't give you copies though, unless the work was performed during your ownership.
