PARKTRONIC SYSTEM NOT COVERED UNDER CPO WARRANTY???

I had the exact same issue with my car. Turns out that when my rear bumper was repainted (by previous owner) they repainted the sensor as well. The paint got too thick which was throwing the sensor off. I had to get a new sensor and have the bumper removed in order to put the new sensor back on. The sensor itself isn't too bad (~$80) but it's more or less the labor of R&I the bumper that will get you (especially with the prices dealers charge). Luckily my aftermarket warranty covered everything except paint for the new sensor.
Was your rear bumper repainted recently?
Seems kind of bull though if CPO doesn't cover the parktronic system. I don't see how that makes any sense, it's a computer system just like anything else on the car and it's not a wear and tear item.
The dealer replaced two faulty sensors (221-542-04-17) and had them painted under warranty.
That was during the CPO 1 year warranty extension active in year 5, though I also have the MB 2 year/100,000 mile extended warranty which covers years 6 and 7.
Call a different dealer - check your warranty contract and ask your dealer exactly which language excludes your problem.
P.S.
I continued to have the false activations and found they went away when I removed my German front license plate. Apparently the plastic bracket was not keeping the plate flush against the bumper. My SA said the European models do not have Parktronic, just Distronic, but I saw several ther last summer. Maybe I'll get an OEM Euro holder sometime and try again.

Was your Euro plate holder not OEM? Maybe that was the issue.

My dealership also didn't know about the curved side mirrors that eliminate the blind spot, standard on most European models and which I had to purchase in the UK when i was there - I use them on all my vehicles - very simple but effective upgrade.
My custom plate from www.europeanplates.com came with a plastic license plate holder. They do have manufacturer specific plates now, maybe they are OK.
I didn't spend the time in a parts dept to get an OEM one when i was last over, too busy having fun.

Thanks for the info HiTach. It's not the first time I've been misinformed from the dealer- usually just have to let it slide.
