Tire Info
Hi guys my S550 came with different front and rear tires, front are Nexen N7000 (85% reamaining)and rear are Hankook Evo V12 (20% remaining) staggered set up, is it common for the S550s to have mixed tire brands.
Should i stick with the Hankook for rear or change to Nexen and keep all tires same brand.
Any info or experience appreciated.

I doubt that these tires were OEM. Mercedes usually uses Continental or Michelin. I am not aware of them ever using Hankook. I have never heard of Mercedes using a different brand for front and rear.

Having identical tires on all 4 wheels is the best setup. Having two different sets of matching pairs in the front and rear is OK but not ideal.
How do you feel about the performance of the Nexens? Have you also checked reviews on them from long term users with similar vehicles? If you are happy with the Nexens and they have good reviews then getting another set for the rear is fine.
If you are not happy with the Nexens, I would not buy another set for the rear just because the fronts are at 85%. The type of tires you have can have a great impact on the enjoyability of your vehicle and it is not worth sticking with a brand you don't like just to save a few dollars. If replacing all four at the same time with a highly recommended brand like Continental or Michelin is not an option, you could go with Continental or Michelin for just the rear and match the fronts in the future.

Why not buy some better tires like Michelin's or Bridgestone's? The Hankook V12 is a decent tire but Nexen's pail in comparison to the better brands. You can get the Pilot Sport A/S which is a very good tire.
