68k miles no oil change!

So customer brought in their 08 S550 on friday, complaint was engine stopped while running and wouldnt start back up. Saw service light, said exceeded by almost 69+k miles. opened cap and saw mudd. Here's what ensued afterwards. BTW shes paying for a complete engine overhaul. ENJOY! AND REMEMBER TO CHANGE YOU OIL ON TIME EVERYONE!!

That's unbelievable and beyond my comprehension ,she drove that poor car that long w/o bothering an oil change ?
Judging by the oil sludge inside the engine ,well let's not go there lol

This is why you should check service records when buying a car....

Car free at the moment
This is an interesting data point - we now know how long a car can run on a single oil change. Kinda makes the 10K mile change interval look reasonable, doesn't it?

Yah the 10k is good interval, even on synthetic oil, i still recommend to my customers 7k-10k be the max driven mileage. Just cuz the timing system on these engines are so dependent on proper oil pressure. Also if I try and opt for mb oil rating of 229.5, usually total and mobil1 meet the req.

That's just horrific. Some people shouldn't be allowed to own cars.
Is it even worth trying to rebuild such an engine?

I had to read this all and look twice to see if my eyes were deceiving me. I just cannot understand how and why? I change my oil every service or before a long trip to Florida. I am just utterly confused how on earth someone forgot or was able to ignore this.

DAMN. That is mind blowing..68K, and she had no idea what "service due now" meant when it popped up on the car display?
