Everything displays on the main COMAND screen and I can skip tracks either with the left side steering wheel buttons or by rotating the COMAND dial.

This functionality may be a part of the MMI upgrade that 2010+ 221 have. Not sure for the 07-09 retrofit. I would say any function you get with a hard dock you'd get with the Tune2Air.

To find out, pick up a 30 pin to Lightning adapter so you can connect your IPhone 6 directly. Around $30.
I have the 30 pin, i would much rather use the bluetooth only cuz the wire is short. I saw complaints on the tune2air with the new bluetooth updates, and saw the one that I got works better without complaints.

I had the tune2air but when i tried it with that, the system was still not working because I had no clue to turn on the input using the computer at the shop.

I am wondering if the tune gets it on the command screen because i heard it doesnt. This new one does not only full functionality and the writing on the odometer.

Yes, Tune2Air displays your IPhones music info on the main COMAND screen and in the speedo display just like a wired connection. It allows full control and navigation of iPhone music using the COMAND knob. It also displays your custom ITunes Radio stations as individual playlists.

Guess I am going to order it again and test it out. Thank you for the reconfirmation.

So i received the visseeeo again and changed out the other one, it only shows on the steering wheel and not on the command center. Same as the other one, is there a specific way of making it show on the main screen?

Like I said, my car is a 2010. It has a different multi media interface than the 07-09. The T2A will replicate a hard dock. If you're getting a display on the screen with an iPhone plugged directly into the car, you'll get it with the T2A.

If the car with the IPod kit is incapable of display on COMAND in the first place , the type of BT adapter won't matter.

Guys there's two different systems in the last few posts giving conflicting idea of how to operate

2006 to 2008 cars run NTG 3 headunit, this get a nasty, far too quiet bodge on ipod / iphone (only) kit that displays basic info only in the middle of the speedo. In use the comand screen is blank, the comand knob has ZERO !!! ability to navigate the ipod, you have to fight silly different inputs via steering wheel buttons. Post iphone 3, it won't charge later iphone 4, 5, 6,models. Allegedly a later cable with black 30 pin plug can do 5v or 12v. Or you can get an adaptor from Merc to go from 12v only to later 5v. This Ipod kit is super nasty, impossible to get hold of now, but miles better than nothing !!!!

2009 to 2012 cars get later NTG3.5 headunit, this as an optional extra can have a proper set up via a proprietary socket in the glove box that allows multiple different cable connections (including USB), with full display and navigation via comand just like your radio, nav, phone etc.

The viseeo tune to air gadget plugs in on either system (using ipod 30 pin connection) and allows the features you had, but using BT audio streaming (without the wires) and obviously without ability to charge the device

The iPod interface is not as bad as you make it sound. I used it and was quite happy with it. it didn't bother me that i couldn't control it via command. I was ok with controlling it via the buttons on steering wheel(which was easier in my opinion) or actually picking up my iPhone and changing it.
combined with the viseo tune2air it is definitely a big upgrade from cds and memory cards.

Did i mention i have both the kit and video tune2air for sale?

Already installed interface. Dealer screwing with me?

So I've already installed my iPod interface for my 07 S550 and I brought to the dealer to have them code it or open for AUX, and they're telling me it's going to take an hour to code with no wait in front of me and they want to charge me $145..... am I being screwed with??? I know it's installed correctly and I know it works with a 100% guarantee... Currently in the waiting room wondering if I'm being screwed over because I'm female? Or this is accurate. Any advice helps. Thanks.

It is what it is. Pay the $145 and get it over with.

Yes, you are being screwed. Hour to code is a lie, it doesn't even take an hour to do a Telematics update for that car. It doesn't take an hour to do a map update to the latest maps on that car. How do I know? Because I've done it and timed it on a 07 S550.

One should invest in a Star/DAS system which will allow you to take care of these simple tasks. You can't really DIY on these cars unless you have all of the tools, Star/DAS is one of those tools.

Yeah I don't see her investing in a diagnostic system to get her radio recoded. Welcome to S Class ownership. Nothing on them is ever cheap.

I bit the bullet and paid On the plus side I got my interface & wiring harnesses for $100 total.. so I'm at $230 for all. Meh. It's not $450 so I guess I'm satisfied. Thank you for your help

Aux on Aux off

I appreciate all this research..
I own a 2007 s550. I have no glove box connection and no Aux feature in the comand. My comand has been updated with the latest navi software installed. The dealership told me they can not turn on aux feature in my Comand. Comand Online and Mid City Engineering says AUX can be turned on w/o STAR? (maybe just to sell the product). So if the foundation to adding any new music source is turning on the AUX -- does anyone now the method to turning on Aux? Any insight would be great.

AUX option for the command system is enabled with STAR/DAS. You would need the iPod interface with the wiring harness which is hard to find but it does pop up on eBay from time to time, that's how I got mine and the process if pretty much plug and play.

Thanks for the feedback.. Like I mentioned.. the dealership said they can not turn on AUX. I have no idea if "can not" means - they - don't know how.
Suppliers of the ipod integration kit, like comand online in the UK or MidCity Engineering say, AUX can be turned with out STAR/DAS.

They mean they don't have the means to do it because that's how it's done and is how I enabled AUX to become one of the audio options in command.

Thanks.
If there are instructions for coding, hacks, or whatever to simply add AUX -- I'm all ears.

I installed the iPod kit with the harness and then enabled AUX using STAR. If you read the beginning of this thread you will see the iPod kit and the wiring harness.

Thanks for your response...

Do you happen to know the STAR codes/procedure?

Ok I got it all hooked up and the ipod powers up (even shows a cool MB symbol on the iPod screen!). But... none of my stereo works. Nothing. Sirius radio is dead. FM doesn't even show frequencies and the CD player will move discs, but won't play sound. Is this because it needs to be coded? Before I tear it all apart again figured I ask.

Ok, I figured out the problem. I forgot to "transplant" the fiber optic cable per the instructions (RIF!). The pair of fiber cables just pulled right out pretty easily from the original harness.

Did you have to turn AUX on in Comand? If so, how'd you get that done?

I have not yet. Car is still in winter storage. I am almost certain that I need to go to the dealer and have them activate it. I will do that this spring and report back!

Aux can be "activated" via SDS or at the dealer. It's part of the installed options that can be turned on or off.
