Rear AC tempermental??

On my 2007 S 600 the rear ac blows warm on the passenger side, and cool on the drivers side. The rear ac turns on and off intermittently. Any ideas what it could be? I am soo confused? I can set it to full fan and it still wont blow if it isnt in the mood. Any help is always appreciated!

PS. Front ac works perfectly fine, and cool on both sides. I checked my AC levels and they are correct.

This might be helpful.

Rear ACC heater core temperature sensor, left (B10/9)/right (B10/10)
(code 582)

Location: The rear ACC heater core temperature
sensors, left (B10/9) and right (B10/10), are
located on each side of the rear HVAC housing.

Task: They register the temperature of the heated
air downstream of the heater core.

Malfunction: Exact temperature control of the air
emerging from the rear HVAC housing is not
possible.

Rear ACC evaporator temperature sensor (B10/11) (code 582)

Location: The rear ACC evaporator temperature
sensor (B10/11) is located at the side of the rear
HVAC housing in the air flow downstream of the
evaporator.

Task: It registers the temperature of the air flow
emerging from the rear HVAC housing evaporator.

Malfunction: Up to production date 12/2005 the
A/C compressor (A9) is shut off. As of production
date 01/2006 the refrigerant supply to the rear
ACC is interrupted. The front ACC system continues
to operate with no functional limitations.

Thank you. Any suggestion on part numbers for these sensors? Which sensor do you think I should start with?

Nevermind, I think I found it as 2218300972... It shows only one sensor in the rear... I wonder if I can fix this myself... hmmmm

Interesting information mine has a similar issue..

is 582 a fault code ?

Mine doesn't display fault codes but rear is erratic. Left didn't get cold at all, right did a bit. Then however I found it had virtually no gas in the ac system (which does front and rear together), I estimate it had less than 50% in it (low pressure side at 15PSI). When I put in 400g of gas (I now think to about 70% filled) the left went on max cold down to 12C and right got warmer to 14C

I'd get ac gas checked first, if never topped up it will be very low. They take 1180g with rear ac, its permissible to lose at least 10% a year. Even if that bits playing up and you replace it, if ac is putting out reduced cooling the car will not work at expected anyway

Ran the car on STAR this morning.. This is what I got.

I pulled the sensor and it had cracked and was filled with water. I emptied it, but I think the sensor is fried, because even after getting the water out it still doesnt work correctly. Let me get the sensor (pictured) ordered and in, then we can check it out.

Do you know if there are any resets for climate control units like on the W220?

Put the new sensor in, and cleared the codes via STAR.

Still working intermittently... Any suggestions?

Currently STAR is not throwing ANY codes

I had the same on my 2007 s600

On my car, the rear AC was completely erratic. The blower would turn on by itself even when the car is not running and would blow warm air on one side and cold on the other. The problem was the rear AC blower motor regulator. It did not show on the computer, but what I noticed was the car was giving the blower regulator the correct voltage, but the blower would act with a mind on its own. $50 from Amazon and 30 min job and now works perfectly.

This is the part I bought:
Amazon Amazon
It is obviously not the OEM. I took pictures of the original part, but don't have them any more. I THINK the part number is: 220 820 92 10, as it says in the amazon listing. The OEM manufacturer is BEHR

Not that it matters now since I totaled my car yesterday, but any reason you bought this instead of the one at $30? They look the same. Just curious in case my replacement car has rear AC.
