When I tell you guys my car looked brand new, I meant it looked BRAND NEW, even the adjuster said he cringed when he saw it. Geico is being GREAT! They are right on it, and say they will have a figure, and a check for me Friday! I will probably have it early next week and I will start looking for a car right away, only another S550 will do..

I had to cancel my warranty with AutoPOM unfortunately but Mike has been great, like usual, I should have my $600 deposit back anytime and I'll tell you guys this, I will ABSOLUTELY re-sign up with him as soon as I get another car.. That place is great.. and there was NO issue with canceling and getting a full refund, so obviously completely above board..

Really glad to hear that you are OK, and being made whole by your insurance company. It's easy to overlook the crashworthness of these cars when most of the forum somehow gets dedicated to problems. That is understandable but it makes it easy to loose sight of the fact that these cars are designed to be driven at 100+ MPH on German Autobahns. The kind of impacts that they can be subjected to in that environment makes you feel good about the protection that is engineered into the car. I don't think about that often when I drive but I should. That is a big part of what we get when we buy these cars and what we pay for. I think that I have read that the S Class has never been crash tested by the NHTS. I bet it would do well if it were. I also think it a safe bet that it is one of the safest cars on the road just by looking at the pictures from your hit.

And also consider that Princess Di and the other 2 onboard would have survived that crash in the S-class hitting that concrete column square on at over 100 mph if they would have had their seat belts on. These are cars built for punishment and really protect their occupants....if they're smart enough to buckle up.

My parents were also in a very major accident in their S Class when a motorhome pulled out in front of them awhile they were going 55+ mph. Everything worked as it should, seat belts automatically tightened, seat backs went upright (part of the pre-Safe system), air bags deployed. Even after that horrendous crash, both front doors opened and the only injuries were very minor -- bruising from the seatbelt for my mother and a broken bone in my dad's hand from the steering wheel. Absolutely nothing beats these cars for safety.

Really glad you're okay, shaken up I'm sure, and that you're insurance is doing what it's designed to do.

Well guys thanks to a little luck, god's grace and Geico insurance I have a new S550! A 2010 S550 with 40k! It has the keyless go, backup camera dynamic seats, pano roof!! Let me say I actually noticed a big difference going from an 08 to a 10. I have to say the trans shifts more for comfort in c, but the suspension has a sportier feel. The exhaust has a nicer throatier tone too. I will post pics tomorrow but I am very happy it all turned out well! Now I need to sell that new bluetooth puck I Bought for the 08! If anyone's interested let me know it's the latest one and I paid I think 175 or so I just want whatever I can get for it.

Very cool. Congrats! Yes, the 2010+ did get a very nice sounding exhaust bump. Sounds great if you are sitting in the back too.

Yes quite a few improvements! The funny thing is, this car was bought and maintained at a local MB dealer, has had all of it's service, including the trans service at 38k and all the weird things I thought my old tranny was doing are evidently normal because this one does them all identically lol! Guess I am just TOO picky!

If you would have purchased an S600 instead, you wouldn't have any weird things going on with the tranny. J/K

Enjoy your new ride in good health. It looks sweet!

Lol! Your right! I've never had a tranny with more than 5 gears that shifted right.. Even a couple brand new 6speeds and now a couple slightly used 7 speeds.. Must be the name of the game. They have ALL acted the same..

Your trans may be shifting based on the previous owners driving habits, you could get the dealer to reset that for you and notice a huge difference.

Thanks! I just re signed with AutoPom for my warranty and to my surprise it was the same exact price. My 08 with 60k was 6k for 36mbth 30k elite plan, now this is a 10 with 40k and is same price.. I signed again but to me it was a much bigger risk to warranty a car from 60 to 90k than from 40 to 70k.. but what do I know..

2003 CL 600
Hit a young girl almost head on in my CL when she pulled right in front of me, was playing with her GPS and claimed she didn't see me. Brand new focus, pushed the front of her car back into the firewall, absolutely destroyed my beautiful CL. Only injury was a sprained ankle from my last second attempt to jam on the brakes when I saw her coming at me. It's an amazing car, even at 12 years old. I am firmly convinced if I was in one of my old Tercels that I probably would have been killed. Most people who saw the cars couldn't believe that there were no injurys.

Glad everyone walked away (or hobbled in your case). Not sure the fact a CL got destroyed in a collision with a Ford Focus is a ringing safety endorsement for the Mercedes though.

You said she pulled in front of you but it was head on? Did she drift left of center coming at you?
