22" tire size question
Posted in the cl section but it's like crickets chirping over there. The CL and S class are similiar enough.
Just picked up a set of 22x9.5 and 22x11 wheels without tires. For the front I'm assuming 255/30/22 will suffice but how about a 285/30/22 for the rear? I'm trying my hardest to stay away from a 25 series tire without rubbing. The car is currently stock height and will probably stay that way for a bit.

Had the same thought process with my 9.5 and 11 ADV.1s. 285/30 is 3.37" side wall and 295/25 is 2.9" sidewall. Problem is that the stretch on the 285/30 on an 11" rim takes it down to the sidewall height of the 295/25 and puts a lot of rim outside of the tire. If your offsets are correct ( and by correct, I mean to the exact mm because on the 95 and the 11", there is zero fudge factor ) You'll find that the rear is fine with no rub at stock height but the front may need finessing to the plastic wheel well liner.

Offsets unknown and I don't see them stamped on the wheels. What are my options out back to avoid a 25 series tire? Should I step down to a 245/30 up front?
Thanks for the input guys
Below is the s550 from which the wheels came

With your front wheel s being 9.5" wide.....it may be better to go with a 245mm wide tire to minimize the possibility of component or fender rubbing during turns and large bumps....especially with you not knowing the offset.
With 19x8.5 rims with 255/40/19 tires.....there not much room between the suspensions components and the tire.
Maybe contact the wheel manufacturer and see if there are some numbers/codes that are stamped on the wheel that can denote the offset.

Those wheels if I recall correctly are Diseno 3 pc. Unfortunately, I think they went out of business a few years back.

I can imagine your itch to get new rubber.
But do your research before spending that cash only to run into problems that cost more cash.
Maybe post some clear pic(s) of any numbers stamped into the wheels.....maybe someone will know/recognize something and provide some useful info for you?

What brand tire did you end up using? I like the way the sidewall size looks in regard to the wheel well.

Local guy had a set of Pirelli scorpions for the back and the shop had winrun in stock for the front. I'm extremely impatient and just wanted to check the fit. I'll probably order some pirellis for the front this week

Just a thought, why not go with a 255/30/22 for the front to give the ratio of sidewall front to rear closer. I run the 255 up front without issues ( stock height suspension ).

255/30/22 in front and 295/25/22 in rear just for perspective.

I would have much rathered a 255 but from reading posts and having the tire shop advise against it, I didn't. Figured the 295 was a shot in the dark and the 245 was a sure thing
