I wonder if the S Class would have done better...
I saw these photos of the accident involving Bruce Jenner and it appears that the Lexus LS failed in protecting the driver. I'm wondering if the S550 would have done a more effective job. Not trying to put down any car manufacturer over another as someone lost their life and this looks horrific. Just wanted some feedback based on overall safety features of one car versus another. Very interested in seeing what some of you have to say. Take care!

The woman who died was I believe in her 80's. As someone who has been saved by an 08 S550 in a t bone accident, I think the S is just about the greatest safest car on the road.. For how hard I was hit the car felt SOLID.. but I wonder if a younger person would have fared better in the Lexus..

In the 3rd photo it looks like the engine is almost pushed into the windshield of the LS. Man oh man. I was in a car accident back in Oct 2013 where a driver ran a red light and almost t-boned me as well. He did manage to take out the entire front of my car and I was hurt with neck, back and leg injuries. Now more than ever I definitely consider the safety of the car 1st over any other features or items.

It looks like the passenger compartment fared pretty well, i.e., the driver door is open. No idea what speed anyone was going, but from I understand Jenner's car rear ended the Lexus on PCH, causing the Lexus to veer into the oncoming Hummer. Sad.

That's what impressed me quite well with the S.. I took a direct hit to the front fender and driver's door, and while the door was bent, and a little harder than normal to open, it opened.. I just can't express enough how well that car fared and how bad the late model Camry that hit it was.. the Camry looked almost exactly like this Lexus, everything up to the windshield was gone.. and if you look back at my accident post pictures you will see how well my car looked.. However, the final cost would have been almost exactly $50k to repair it, but it was obviously totaled.

I always say that when people say how reliable their Asians car how solid tough shell body the S Class has , in case of any accident the chances your being walked away is far more than that of any would-be trouble free boring Asians including your reliable Asians

Lexus vehicles have lighter metals then german cars, I have a rx350, had a gs350 so I know..However, theres no way of telling if the Benz would have faired better going against a hummer head on.
