I like the third (dark grey) car. Least mileage. Nicest wheels. The gray will age well. Less maintenance than black paint and different than silver. Don't get me wrong, I like all three colors and all three colors are my favorite colors for cars, but I think, assuming all of the cars check out well, the third gray one is the best out of all of your options.

It's amazing how much the prices have dropped. The silver car looks like a steal for that price.

Holy crap! Seriously looking at high mileage S600s? They're cheap because nobody will warranty them and they're a cost nightmare to maintain and repair with that kind of mileage.

You're an experienced MB guy so I trust you know what you're getting into. Much braver man than I. They do look like fun though.

I am not thinking of buying one but it seems interesting. I guess 113k miles on a V12 is like 200k miles on a V8 (good thing I didn't buy that 760). They do look fun, the options, especially on the Designo Gray Car, and mileage look appealing to someone who has no clue about these cars. So yeah I feel sorry for the poor slob who will end up with them and have a crap load of service bills.

This is not true at all. The V12 TT is a very solid motor....every bit as solid as the 5.5 V8. The 5.5 V12 has been around since 2003 and they still use it in the W222 S600. In fact, the 5 speed trans in the W221 S600 is much more durable than the 7 speed in the 550. I believe what Mike is referring to is all of the other items that come standard on the S600 that are high cost options on the S550....such as ABC, Distronic+, etc that can be very costly to repair if and when they go haywire.

This one is a single owner vehicle and looks like a contender.

Contender for what? It's over 8 years old and has no service records reported to Carfax. I'd be calling the dealer and asking for every record they have on the car before even considering looking at it. $29k is not a very good deal on that car with those miles. I bet a warranty for just 2 years (if you can find one) would run close to $10k on that car.

I was just trying to be helpful. It looks like a good comp and it's for sale in the same area.

I am not an expert on the V12s but I heard a lot of bad stuff about BMW V12s. So I guess it doesn't apply to the S-Class V12.

Buy all three. That way when two are in the shop you'll still have one to drive.
