Help!!! purchasing 2013 S550 what is latest map version
I am about to get a 2013 S550 from MB dealer, and want to make sure they load the latest MAP version, please provide the latest version available, since most likely they will try not to do it
also is there a telematics update too?
build of the car is 7/12
I only have a couple days before the delivery. I am in Chicago and the car in Florida, so you can imagine the problem.

these maps are released every couple of moths? with new updates on the streets? correct?
what is the latest version.
I want to make sure that car I am buying does not have a map system from 3 years ago.
A lot have changed on the streets since then

Also, since I am in Chicago and the car is in Florida, i need to tell the salesperson how to check for the version of maps installed.

The map updates are once per year. You're car will likely have V11. I just installed that update in my car a couple of weeks ago and some new roads did show up compared to the original maps from 2007. Even if you purchased the maps for 2014, which I believe is the newest version, streets that were built in the last couple of years likely won't show up as the maps are usually 1-2 years behind.
If you're concerned about getting the newest version (V13), you can find them on Ebay for under $200.

I tried to lookup on my 08 S550 the version, and I cannot.
Is it the same on 2013? or the command system is the same.
I am buying a car that is 1200 miles away and I want to make sure they load the latest and show me the proof.

thank you for your concern, I cannot, but my very good friend will be there to check and report. Meanwhile since he is an Audi person, he does not now to much about MB, I need this info for him.
He says Mercedes is has boring look....... not sporty at all. ghrrrrrrrrr.

I recently bought an S550 from over 2700 miles away. Real Benz dealer, CPO'd, described as "perfect".
There were just a *few* wrinkles to that...

You can pretty much count on it being the 2012 version. The only way to tell what is actually on there is to have a MB mechanic hook it up to their computer. There is nothing in COMAND that tells you the current map version. This really should not be a concern as the maps are easy and fairly cheap to update without need for the Benz dealer to do it.

I find Audi's to pretty basic looking cars without many character lines. Benz', especially the 221's look better than any of the newest Audi's. And the 2-toned Designo interior of the car you're buying looks better than anything Audi has ever produced.
Is this a Benz dealer you're buying from? Is it CPO'ed? If so, you're likely in a good spot buying it sight unseen. I know that Snowman had a horrible experience with his CPO car, but that is definitely the exception, not the rule. Have your friend go through the car as completely as possible, and even take it for a comprehensive test drive. If it all looks good after that and the CPO inspection, you're likely good to go.
If you're going to have the car shipped up here, get in touch with Bruce Mendel on this board. He can hook you up with a good carrier and have the car up here in under a week from pick-up.

I also agree that map version should be the least of your concerns (also pointed out by Jason)...
