Does anyone have a Yakima Roof Rack on a W221 S???

I am looking for a roof rack to haul a bike and kayak. I can't find anything from Thule and during my research have found Yakima has a round bar setup but heard those are loud. So I was trying ot figure out if the C/E class whisbar setup would bolt on? They all use the same bolt right? Has anyone tried a roof rack with a fit kit from a E/C? Thanks!!!

My gawd! It's an S-class, not a Subaru.

Perhaps you should consider a different vehicle for hauling your outdoorsy equipment.

Perhaps you should act like an S class owner and have some class.

I am asking for help on how to mount a roof rack, not your opinion of how I should use the car. Is it ok if I drive it to work? How about to the country club? How about taking my family on a trip?

Please troll someone else's thread. I am trying to have a grown up conversation with other S Class owners who may be able to help me. If not I will post my results for future reference.

Round bars can be loud, they tend to whistle. A fairing helps a lot. The nice thing about round bars is that you can rotate the ski/snowboard racks flat.

Alternatively, the Whispbar fit kit K621 should work for the W221. See the attached PDF--it should answer your questions.

Don't let Dave bother you. I've come to learn that it is just his M/O. Just ignore him...

Absolutely awesome and exactly the help I was looking for . Yeah the rotation is part of what scares me when hauling a heavier item like a kayak. Plus if the whispbar is quieter then

My sarcasm is generally reserved for silly threads or posts...like putting a roof rack on a 2 year old S-class that's going to carry bikes and kayaks. I wonder if Bentley offers an aftermarket kit for such items?

If the post or thread appears to be "normal", then I try to be as helpful as I can if any positive input can be added. When I see something silly, you can expect me to reply with humor or sarcasm.....such as the many threads of which 22-24" rims look best on an S-class.

Just be aware of the load factor. The round bars are stronger than oval/ellipse bars...

Gotcha and thanks! I am aware and will never be close to the limit of the bar, but a kayak weighs alot more than a bike hahaha.

Dave here you go buddy
