Looking for purchase advice 2013 S550
I've decided to become an example of how direct mail still works and take advantage of MB's May CPO incentives to upgrade from a 2012 E550 to a 2013 S550. After much searching, I have found two (reasonably) local 2013 S550s that suit my option must-haves (Driver's Assist & Pano Roof).
First is Lunar Blue on Cashmere/Savannah with DA, Pano, Heated Wheel, Rear Seat Pkg, Rear blinds, 20k CPO until 11/17
Second is Black on Cashmere/Savannah with DA, Pano, Heated Wheel, Illuminated Sills, 18k CPO until 5/18
Both offered me the car for $60k. I'd love to get opinions on a couple items:
1. Does the price sound fair?
2. Should the warranty difference be a consideration? (I typically keep a car 2.5-3 years)
3. Any thoughts on the rear seat pkg? Sounds fun, but generally useless as my 2 Jack Russells are the only ones ever in the back!
Thanks for any advice.

I have seen several 13s for about that price range with over 20k miles, so it appears that the price is avg. But you can probably work it a bit lower to your liking. I would prefer to have the longest warranty as possible. Rear seat package is more of a gimmick option in my opinion but the rear side sun shades are nice. I would not but another S w/o the shades since I have the kids sitting back there, it does help. Good luck with your purchase & enjoy the ride with the dogs!!!!

You can take the CPO out up to 2 additional years beyond the base one year. It's $2500 for each extra year, and if you take it all at once it's $4500. There is no mileage limit, just time.
It starts when the cars original 4 year/48k ends, so a 13 should have a decent amount remaining.
On the car, I'd find a 12. It's going to have everything the 13 has. In 11 the Drivers Assist became standard and of course the 12 got the TTV8 engine. Power rear sunshades became standard in 2010 provided the car has at least a P1 package and I've never seen one that doesn't.
A real find and something I wish I'd gotten was a car with the Bang & Olfsen sound system. Those will have silver door speaker grilled and funky looking door tweeters. The base system blows. That B/O package was standard on the 11 and up S600 and a rare option on the 550. Of course the S600 TTV12 nullified the advantage of the 12's engine upgrade, so an 11 600 might also be a smart CPO play. Not to mention the full leather interior and other goodies.
12s have depreciated out a good bit. Probably save you $10k on a 550 vs 12.

Thanks for the input. I went with the Black on Cashmere/Savannah 2013 with 15k (a nice surprise as I thought it had 18k) on the clock and CPO until 4/18. With the colors and options on the car, its about as subtle as an S550 can be. Its exactly what I wanted....a bigger, quieter, plusher, more luxurious version of the E550 it replaced.

Yeah, the E is much more like a "regular" car in terms of ride and amenities. You've probably already discovered that an S is in its own class. Congrats and pics are in order.
