S550 airmatic air strut questions 🙈
So my baby is so low only in the front! When I start the car it says vehicle is rising but when I drive for maybe 1 mile it say stop car is to low😏. Ive been told it's my front air struts that need to be replaced. Does anyone know where I can get them for less than 1000.00 a piece.

The only place you can get it fixed under warranty is thru a dealer. I changed my r500 left front strut airmatic thru the dealer and it cost $1400 with one year warranty. My advice is go to the dealers. It took them 1 week to order it from Germany.

hi guys/girls,
have an issue with '13 front passenger strut.
dealer quoted $12xx for the part alone.
my question is :
will this struth work fine wih a '13 s550 4matic?
https://www.arnottindustries.com/part_MERCEDES-BENZ_yid18_pid183.html
it says to 07-'12 no mention of '13.
if someone knows for sure, it would be a big help.
thanks

OEM part #s are same for 12&13 S550 4matic: front right 2213200538 replaced by 2213201838, left 2213200438 replaced by 2213201738. Arnott shows 0538, should be fine. Strut replacement is covered by MB factory warranty. If 50,000 > I recommend replacing both left & right.

thx for your reply !
car has over 60k miles. i talked to a service guy @ mb today and he said struts are considered 'wear and tear' items. he may have just been ill informed?
the arnotts are appealing not only for signifcant savings but they also come with a lifetime warranty !
i will update as soon as things progress !
thx again

we have an extended warranty on the car although not through mbusa.
i hope so the provider will also see struts as non wear and tear.
swinehund550,
oem is nearly double the price and only comes with one year warranty.
i have heard good things about arnott, not only through this website, but from a mb tech directly.
have you had prior bad experience with arnott?
do you care to share?
thx

I used them on my W 220 with no problems. My Indie in Florida says they're garbage. Every has a different opinion, that's what makes the world go around.

I never had good experience with Arnott struts. Their customer service was exceptional but every replacement strut I received had some sort of defect. I ended up just trading my car for a 2013. Went through four replacement struts all on the front right side. #1 failed while driving causing damage to the control arms which they said the bolt wasn't seated properly. That was not replaced under warranty so I bought a second strut plus upper control arm with ball joint. #2 came with a defective harness throwing airmatic error code and causing the vehicle to ride like a Jeep. Problem was I had to spend almost $500 in installation then diagnostics of this problem. That was replaced with another strut under Arnott warranty. #3 came defective with a slow leak that would leak overnight every day. Here goes another $500 in diagnostics and instalation fees. Yet again replaced under Arnott warranty for#4. This one just had a very loud thumping sound every time you hit a bumpor just driving period. I drove to Chicago and by the time I made it there the ride was just unbearable. I already knew it was the strut so I didnt pay anymore diagnostic fees and I did not call Arnott anymore. I just traded that car for 2013 S550 with around 9k miles and I couldn't be happier. So while some will swear by Arnott, I just can't say the same. Sorry. One strut that should have cost me $550 ended up racking up well over $3000

It seems to be an either black or white experience. Personally I've had good experience here in Canada with my W 220 and yet in Florida my Indie curses them and won't install them.
