Hi Everyone,
I have the 2010 S350 in Australia which has slightly different specs to the US.
It has the keyless-go system so I do not have to take the key out of my pocket to open or start the car. Fantastic idea, but to lock the car I have to either touch the door handle or press the lock button on the key.
There is no auto lock feature when I walk away so if I forget to lock the car, the car remains unlocked. ( My old car had auto lock so I got used to it) Is there anyway to change the settings or have a merc dealer reprogram the key?
Not an important issue, just a nice feature so any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

I don't believe the "auto-lock" feature that you desire is available on the W221.
Thanks for the answer. I did not think they would allow any changes to the system as there are good reasons not to have auto-lock. Ask my kids you have been accidently locked in the old car.
Maybe there is a way to program the key. It is just one of the features I like but all cars are different. Remote start would be a useful feature, especially on a hot day.

Hmmm, I wonder if that can be programmed in the newer cars?Originally Posted by Marcelo G. Pais

what about if I leave my car running and walk lets say to buy a pen for example? I noticed it doesn't lock also.
And it can be driven off without have the key, dash will say Key-not found but yet you can shift it to D and Drive

This only happens if you unlock the car with your remote and don't open the door. Many cars have this feature.

I don't understand how or why but when I'm washing the car and I brush up against a door handle the car immediately locks the doors and raises all of the sun shields, I'm guessing for privacy.

happens to me too. lock sensors on the door handles are that sensitive...no different from using finger.Originally Posted by Mike5215

If you walk up to the car without the key and its unlocked, if you touch the handle does it lock and put up the shades? That would be as good as auto locking.
