Yesterday:
After driving 350 miles I had the following issues:
*After the car shut off: I heard a loud buzzing in front right corner for 40 minutes.
Today:
Drove a few miles and received a RISING MALFUNCTION error.
I restarted the car and the car was able to rise and go down.
Then the RISING MALFUNCTION error came back.
I checked the fuse box and fuse 50 was blown out (*40A)
I replaced the fuse and the car would not go up and the fuse blew.
Put a new fuse in and it blew.
Switched the two relays with two other to no avail.
What would cause the fuse to constantly blow>?
How can I fix this?
Thank you in advance.

how hard of an install is it?
Safe to drive on it? I'm 3.5 hours away from home.

It is easy. The compressor is under the front bumper I believe on the w221.
On safety- depends. If you are not losing air/ ride height it is ok. If you are losing air and car is getting lower - you can still drive it but it might get too low for safe driving/ handling.
Does it lose ride height or presently sit lower?

I ordered an air suspension compressor; are there any tutorials or you tube videos? Originally Posted by alx

Looks like the compressor is right next to the air intake and can be accessed from the top and not under the bumper.
How important is it to replace the relay? Might not arrive due to Christmas.
Are there greater issues that cause the compressor to fail?
Relay is prolly good. I wouldn't bother especially if you have already replaced it once and fuse still blows. If you have not seen "compressor cooling" message on the dash then I would assume compressor just died. If you have seen said message and/ or you have found your car lower in the morning then you have a leak in airmatic that needs to be addressed.
Btw an 07 airmatic compressor is just about overdue

ExploreBe careful. Low corner overnight typically indicates a leak. It is prolly a small leak if your compressor wasn't giving you overheat messages. Losing pressure definitely quickened the demise of the compressor, but your compressor is just old.
Replace compressor and see if it still blows the fuse.
If it does blow the fuse - the next culprit is is the fuse block. Needs to be removed and inspected for corrosion, etc.
If it works, you are not done. Park the car over few days and see if it sags. If it does it is prolly the shock in that corner. You have to address it as otherwise the new compressor will fail prematurely.
Good luck

Compressor and relay was changed.
Now I can't get the rise button to work (red light won't come on). Also the traction control button won't work either.
Good thing is the compressor pump doesn't blow instantly.
Is there another fuse I need to check?

Something to consider...
FYI the whole panel is out. Rise button/esp off/screen adjust/screen bright.
Which fuse or relay controls.
Air suspension appears to be good. Three fingers between tire and tire well for all four tires.

Fuse 40 was missing; I fixed it and everything works perfectly.
how do I know if I have a leaky strut? should I measure and see if it's lower after sitting outside all night?
Thanks again for all the help.
$452 for compressor/2 relays/40a fuse = partsgeek.com and 6 hours of time.
Not too bad.
